Recommend me an amp.

I have had it. I currently use a Marshall MG50DFX which is "ok". Not more, not less. I canīt really get the sound I want from it and I have noticed "shiftings" in the sound quality. Sometimes it goes from a bright, enjoyable tone to a dark, mumbling one during the same session. I often play with headphones (AKG240, is it possible that these might be the problem?) and thatīs when the "shifting" is the most obvious.

Anyway, I want to purchase a new amp.

I mostly play alternative, grungy music and some bluesy rock. In band names: Nirvana, Pavement, The Pixies, The Black Keys, The White Stripes.

My gear: Fender Jaguar HH Special (main guitar), Boss BD-2, Boss, DS-2, Dunlop CryBaby, Behringer acoustic Modeler (it was cheap, I had to try it) and an Electro Harmonix Small Clone.

I want an amp for around $600. Preferably not beyond that.

Iīm looking forward to your suggestions.

Try Egnater. Versatile, reliable, great tone and won't break the bank.

This.
Jet City Amps are great for the price. the marshal class 5 is also great but its only 5w and has only one channel but you have a distortion pedal anyway., marshall haze and MA amps are rubbish

You headphones may well be the problem depending on how your wearing them, i have Ģ100's worth of bose headphones, but unless i find the sweet spot they can sound too bassy.
MG's are pretty sterile to say the least, and out of all the amps chosen here i'd get a class 5 or a used tiny terror.

MGs are famously a bit rubbish but I would put the majority of tonal "shifting" down to ear fatigue, particularly so when using headphones at high volume. It's common after a long session in a studio to come back the next day and adjust the eq, cutting loads of top end because your ears have rested.

However, a new amp is always good!

The problem is that itīs seems to be a lot harder to find used gear for a decent price here in Sweden (which I should have mentioned), so I would prefer a new amp. Nice amps though. I had to google them anyway and both the Blackstar and Orange caught my attention.
