The All new and shiny BASS RESOLUTION 2012 Edition!!

With the year winding down and the holiday music filling the air, here's that time honoured traditional

BASS RESOLUTION THREAD!!

So here's where you make all those bass related resolutions you may or may not do during the next year. Since Karl Marx said "The road to hell is paved with good intentions", lets get this party started!

My resolutions:

1. Get much better and comfortable with jazz improvisation on upright
2. Learn to play arco without sounding like Godzilla in pain.
3. Get the blues trio going in a serious way.
4. Get a real, honest to god, MIA Precision Bass.

For 2012 - assuming the world doesn't end when the Mayan calendar runs out next December - I hereby resolve to:

1.) Start using vastly different scales than the ones I've been playing to death.
2.) Learn to tap, so that it doesn't sound like clickety-clack crap.
3.) Incorporate more chord voicings into the stuff I play.
4.) Learn more songs from beginning to end, rather than just the parts that interest me.

May we all achieve our goals. And if we fail, then may we commiserate together in the Bass Forum Virtual Bar. The first round will be on me.

My resolutions:

1. Get my stupid fat hands up to speed for soloing over fast chord changes.
2. Replace my current rig with the Aguilar Tonehammer 500 + 2x 1x12 cabinets.
3. Learn Donna Lee.
4. Play at Ronnie Scotts.

Ugh, let's try this again.

1. Get a 5 string. Seriously. Or at least a fretless bass.

2. Learn how to walk, it's a damn shame im in jazz band and I still can't improvise my own lines.

3. Get better at faster passages.

4. Learn how to properly do a full set-up.

Ok, hopefully I can actually make a dent in this this year.

1) Get a job. Then use said money to acquire a new bass, I need something to put rounds on. And it shall be either graphite-necked, fan fretted, or MIA Fender/EBMM.

2) Get more serious practice time in.

3) Try and get together with other musicians and jam more often then once every two months.

1. Spend no more £500 on gear.
2. Find a set of coated strings that I actually like.
3. Get into a decent sight reading regime.

My only resolutions so far are
1. Buy an Eden rig
2. Join a band

If that happens I'll be happy.

1) Participate in more threads :P
2) Finish off my rig so it's gig-worthy
3) Get my license so I can actually find a band! (Everyone that lives in my general area likes terrible music, and the ones that don't are either too young or too lazy)
4) Finally get my custom bass and just use that

1) Don't spend more time than I need to at boot camp, because I'm not gonna be playing any bass there.
2) Buy some quality Ampage. Something small. Markbass maybe.
3) Write more stuff.
4) Play so well at church that every sunday at 830 AM someone wishes I was back for purely instrumental reasons.

1. Get a head/cab rig.
2. Get around to lowering the action on my RBX270
3. Get into a gigging band and/or get my current band gigging
4. Improve slap/pop speed
5. Jam more with friends
6. Play some stuff other than metal and simple jazz lines.
7. Become comfortable with effects

I forgot to do this last year but I'll do it this year.

Get comfortable (and good) at soloing.
Get a new bass perhaps? A 5 string would be nice.
Learn all the notes on the fretboard.
Maybe get an upright?
Write more songs (ok, it doesn't specifically apply to bass, but my bassline writing skills are somewhat lacking).

That's about all I've got.

1. Start a band in the style I've been wanting to play for ages.
2. Purchase a KSD Jazz and get Nord Big Singles installed (This might be in the works shortly)
3. Need a Pitchblack or Polytune
4. Want a GK Neo 2x12 to get 500w out of the MB 500
5. Really break down my technique and rebuild by applying new theory knowledge.
6. Not selling my rig to buy a Markbass TTE
