Isn't Sonic Youth kind of an essential noise rock band (or am I wrong?)? I've been diggin their "Confusion is Sex/Kill Yr. Idols" album.

Also I have to say I found the Animal Collective flow chart pretty amusing. I have Merriweather Post Pavilion but never really got into it, so I suppose I'll give Sung Tongs a try.

nonono yr doing it all wrong. pet sounds>mpp and feels should be the only AnCo album you own (considering you only own one bc Strawberry Jam is pretty awesome too)

i didn't like it for a long time, but last year i got way into it.

i love pet sounds because of a lot of reasons. the first are the hokey vocal melodies; they sound really dated and corny, but if yr like me and like dated and corny stuff it's ok ok. speaking of corny, it's not like the lyrics are that special or anything, but they deal with a lot of the themes that i find relevant my life--ie. the regular problems people face in the transition from adolescence and adulthood.

everyone rants about how impressive the production is so i don't need to talk about that (although it's great). also it's like the best bass album ever, dat melodic basslines.

this is my favorite 'deep cut' on the album.

I think MPP sucks and Strawberry Jam and Feels are the best.

I think Pet Sounds is good but I don't really care about it.

I think Astral Weeks is the best album of the 60s/all time. Velvet Underground, The Kinks, The Beatles, and CCR all have albums that I prefer to Pet Sounds.
