Question first effects pedal advice

Hi guys, I have playing guitar for 3 years and use a line 6 15 w spider iv and a Ibanez grg 270..I was thinking of buying a pedal but since I dont have any experience In the field I dont know what to do..I play mostly metal and hard rock...bands such as 5fdp,a7x,atr,aa,aild etc.. I want something under 300$ and which can be used to record as well as can be used live..I was thinking of buying a blackstar ht dual..is it a good choice or should I go for something else???

If you have $300 right now then your first priority is a new amp. Two reasons for that; first because your current amp is pretty terrible, and second because it won't really work well with the majority of pedals anyway.

Sorry man, no one likes to hear that... But in the long run it's the right move.

Something like a peavey vyper with the pedal would be a good choice. eBay or Craigslist are places to find them cheap.

if he got a vypyr he may as well just get one of the sanpera pedals to go along with it. something to step on, slightly better sound quality, and has a USB out. personally, i hated my vypyr and if you still wanted to stay with a modeler i'd get a mustang. if you just want something to step on, get something like a line 6 pod HD or mustang floor.

you'll be able to record thru those, use it as an interface so you can plug ur guitar into a computer, has all the efffects, amp sims, looper... etc.

You could pull a vypr tube 60 or a peavey valve king for that used. Do that. Your guitar isn't top notch either.
EDIT: Work on your grammar too.

I think you need to spend some cash before multi-effects pedals sound good.

I think you are probably better off with a modest amp with a good clean (and maybe a dirty) channel and buying single-purpose pedals (i.e. delay, overdrive, reverb, flanger, etc.) according to the sound you want. They tend to sound much better than a multi-effects pedal. Sometimes multi-effects pedals will have a couple of sounds that you like, but you are stuck with all the other tones you won't use.

I see attack attack dude I love that picture though haha.

A Peavey Vypyr tube 60 has tons of amp models, excellent built in effects, great metal tones and has a tube power section. it can be gigged as well.

all for around $300-350. sell the Line6 to a seemingly innocent br00tz obsessed teenager on craigslist and you're all set.

now to answer your original question, what kind of sound are you going for? My first recommendation is a wah pedal because they are the shit, but it really depends on what you're looking to play.

I strongly advise you to stay away from effects pedals at this stage, as they will drain your budget and won't sound all that great with your amp.

TS, if you don't even know what sort of effects pedal you want, it is pretty much impossible for us to help you. Please insert another token to play.

Buddy its called a foot switch. Its like a pedal. It just changes the channels on the amp for you.

ah ok, thanks. i've heard of all those bands, just didn't know the abbreviations

most decent high gain amps come with footswitches to let you change channels. Which accomplishes the same thing as pedals (better, IMO).

you might be struggling with $300, though, especially in india (i'm guessing prices there aren't so great, but could be wrong).
