PBT Mystery Box 2012
Nothing has been finalized as of yet; this thread is going to serve as a brain storming area until we can work out the details to make it flow better than last year's box.
For those who didn't see last year's box, the concept is that some donations are made to get the box started off. We fill the box with pedals and send it on it's route. Whoever is in possession of the box is free to swap out anything in the box for anything in their possession of equal value. 2 for 1's are okay, provided there is room in the box. As of now, the box will be limited to the US unless we can get a volunteer from each continent to ship the box to the next continent via Express mail with tracking. This stems from the disappearance of last year's box when en route from Australia to the UK. I'll volunteer for the US if we can get other volunteers. For those participating in the US, you will receive the box and upon receipt will detail the contents of the box to me and another trustworthy volunteer. Preferably a picture will be taken for proof (and this may even become a requirement). You will be able to keep the box for 4 days and get to mess with whatever is inside. When you ship it via Priority mail, you will be required to again detail what is in the box, regardless of whether or not you swapped anything out. The box must be shipped with tracking and insurance, the numbers of which will also be sent to me and a volunteer. Participation will be limited, whether by post count/contributions/length of membership or PBT/WTLT status. It hasn't been decided yet but this must be done for security reasons. If anyone has any better ideas/improvements to make to the process, feel free to make them. Sign up will commence once the process has been finalized. EDIT: First issue sorted, Dustin (chip46), will be the volunteer to help me keep track of the box. Most important issues that still need to be covered are international guys and limits on participation. EDIT2: Here's a list of interested peoples and order. US order: darkwolf291 - NJ * Wisthekiller - FL * mcraddict - OH * Flux'd - IN * gregs1020 - IL Roc8995 - WI * lbj273 - MN * irnmadn88 - KS mmolteratx - TX * Raijouta - OR * richardlpalmer - WA * Whiny Cananadaland - ACollier * Europe order: AngryGoldfish - UK * SimplyBen - UK WtrPlyr - Netherlands * Y00p - Netherlands * stykerwolf - Turkey Aus order: Dan_5893 * NakedInTheRain * telemetal * greeny23 * joe_k * Eppicurt * Last edited by mmolteratx : 02-17-2012 at 08:42 PM. |

Actually, how would Aussies, Europeans and Canadians feel about splitting the difference in shipping between what the last guy would pay to ship domestically and the Express international for each region? Say there are 4 people in Australia, shipping domestically is $10. So the first 3 people pay the $10 to ship it to the next guy, the last guy pitches in $10 for the Express shipping and then the 4 split the difference evenly?

How would they effectively do that though? Like each person tucks in a few bucks or whatever into the box as it goes along the continent?

The way I see Australian shipping working is that most of the PBT regulars are quite close to one another (Joe, Adam, Tim), and Yianni isn't too far away from them either, when compared to me.
Maybe they can work something out since the shipping between the 3 Sydney people would be very cheap or almost free. That way the international shipping between them and the States could be split. If I'm in on this we'd have to work something out routewise because it'd be expensive to ship from the US to me, for me to ship back to the East coast, and then have them ship to Europe. Ideally, it'd go US -> Europe -> Me -> East Coast -> US. (If I'm allowed in)

If it comes to me, I can ship it for free domestic through work which has tracking and requires a signature on delivery.

I'm up for it. Will be fun to mess with stuff. It would suck for aussie dan to just miss out because of where he is. I'll ship it to him. Or i'll pay for shipping and one of the dudes who doesnt work fulltime can do the actual shipping. Ill then because tim, adam and i wont need to ship between us they can just chip in for the international shipping yes?
So basically merica sends to yianni. Yianni sends to tim. We just share that shit between us. I send to dan. Dan sends to europe. Thoughts?

This sounds alright to me, but I'd rather do it the other way (Europe to me, then me to you guys) since I won't be able to afford shipping to Europe (assuming this is before September), and that way you guys have at least 3 of you who can chip in for international shipping to the States. Shipping from me to you guys is something I can do though. If that's a problem let me know, and I'll have to see how much shipping will cost from me to Claude (assuming he's in on it), or Holland/UK.

Yeah, I'm down for this, if possible. I don't know if I can afford to send the package back to Matt in America with Express mail. It will be quite a bit, and I'm pretty parched at the moment money-wise.
