Wrong way round. Higher impedance pots give you more treble. Humbuckers don't have as much treble as single coil pickups. I would go with 500k pots though.

Thanks for the pot suggestions, I will order 500ks. If I decide that I don't like them I can always change them latter on.

I have been rather busy working over the last 2 weeks so carving progress has been slow.
Some parts I ordered turned up today. The pickups are relatively cheap ones by Iron Gear, I'm interested to see how they compare to the more expensive brands. ![]() The bridge and some electrical bits ![]() |

It will be rounded once I get all the lowered areas to a consistent depth. |

You radius before you slot? Regardless, looking good! I've been lurking this thread a while now.

That looks awesome. And I was thinking of doing something like this on an Explorer, and was wondering what are you using for the carving, just a chisel?

Progress:
Fretboard glued on, sides trimmed down and inlay holes drilled ![]() The main recessed areas on the body carving are now roughly at their final depth so I have started rounding over the edges of the carving / sorting out the details. The holes for the controls are also now drilled. ![]() ![]() |

Those are the same pickups I've got lined up for my next build. I have a Pig Iron in the cupboard, and I need to order the Dirty Torque. IronGear pickups are very good for the money.
