Modern Rock Mixtape Week 23: Will the ****

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...feature=edit_ok

Grimes - Genesis
Sigur Rós - Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur
Serj Tankian - Borders Are
Helios - A Mountain of Ice
MGMT- Future Reflections
Paco Peña - Rondeñas
blink 182 - Snake Charmer
bansheebeat - Precursors

This was thrown together last minute, just like last time. There isn't really a theme at all; there are multiple genres. These are all fairly famous bands, but I think there will be plenty that many of you haven't heard before. Enjoy.

Past Weeks:
Week 1 - 10/15 - Ben (BenRaah) - Rock/prog
Week 2 - 10/22 - Mike (Squall142) - Gangsta rap
Week 3 - 10/29 - Harry (hazzmatazz) - Weird rock stuff/Halloween
Week 4 - 11/5 - Kai (Uber-rocker) - "All rock, with a little roll here and there"
Week 5 - 11/12 - Steve (steve_muse) - Misc (I'm getting bad at this)
Week 6 - 11/19 - Will 1 (Alter-Bridge) - Lots of different stuff with guitars in it
Week 7 - 11/26 - David (edgeyyz) - A bunch of epics
Week 8 - 12/3 - Will (slipknot5678) - "Something of a post rock/ambient/dream pop thing going on here"
Week 9 - 12/10 - Dan (Dan_5893) - Enjoyable stuffz
Week 10 - 12/17 - Andy (badpun)
Week 11 - 12/24 - Stephen (stepco12345)
Week 12 - 12/31 - Aodhan (Duffman123) - A short reflection on the road to modern rock
Week 13 - 1/7 - ME! (frankv)
Week 14 - 1/14 - Ben again - dark electronic
Week 15 - 1/21 - D (iwannabesedated) - Manly manlove rock
Week 16 - 1/28 - Dr Foxylove (bradulator) - Break-up songs
Week 17 - 2/4 - Mike - Loud to soft alt rock (right?)
Week 18 - 2/11 - Harry - Wild experimental stuffz
Week 19 - 2/18 - David - Proggerrocker
Week 20 - 2/25 - Steve - Chillable stuff
Week 21 - 3/4 - Will 1 #2 - Rock and some other stuff
Week 22 - 3/11 - FRANK - Elevator to a higher plane

Certainly an eclectic mix here. The first two songs didn't do much for me, and the Serj song seemed to try way too hard to be "epic" (lets throw some strings on there). Helios and MGMT were good, and the Blink 182 didn't suck as much as I thought it would. Bansheebeat was good, but those drums did get a bit tiresome after a while.

Paco Peña was by far the stand out. He is too good.

Also, change my playlists names back to what they were before you damn dirty ape cock!

I don't know why I still haven't bothered with Sigur Ros yet. They

I mostly liked this, except for Serj Tankian and that Paco Pena guy. Nice and varied mix, the Grimes track was very pleasant, as well the Helios and bansheebeat tracks.

I'll say it here because you didn't include the upcoming schedule:

Dan, you're next.

Finally a chance to listen to this one. Was pretty sweet bro. Opener and closer were sweet, so was Helios.

And lol to Frank's first mix.

I'm sorry if I'm ignorant on this, but how are those first bands in the first link anything rock? They all seem more classical bassed and such... untill it gets to blink 182.. I mean crystal instrumentals? Sorry that's not rock. (or whatever that was, nor was that grimes piece.)

Don't get me wrong.

GREAT Music .

Just not rock in any sense of the word.

In fact only 1 rock thing in the whole mix!

We made a point of not caring if it's actually rock or not, mixmakers are free to do whatever. The first mix was a gangsta rap mix.

Hey, if you feel like doing a mix yourself, head over to the sign-up thread and show us how it's done!

LOL, the whole point of coming to this mix-tape was to find more modern rock to listen to lol... guess that was a wrong assumption... I mean you did call it a "modern rock mix tap" after all heh.

But I would lol, had I more than the standards... nirvana, jane's addiction, RHCP, etc. LOL..

Ahh, another reason to stop by the sign-up thread.

It has an overview of all the mixes with a short description of the mixes' character for most of them.

Biggest reason to do these mixes was to keep the forum alive, sorry for the confusion.

Well this is a forum of friends, and we happen to be in the Modern Rock section of this website. It's all about finding good music regardless of genre.

And with only RHCP kinda (not really), those aren't the most modern of bands /

But seriously, I like it and this mix tape was posted around three weeks after you released Wutai, so I put it in there.
