Looking for 7 string for under 2200$
I've finally at a point where I can afford a really nice guitar. I've been rocking my ibanez 7321 for about 7 years now and want to upgrade. The problem is there are so many awesome guitars in my price range I need some guidance.
Requirements: -7 strings (dur) -Fast Neck (love the wizard 1) -Dual Humbuckers (NO ACTIVES) -No trem. ( I dislike the les paul style fixed bridges as well) -Has to be beautiful (In the 10 years I've been playing I've had flat black guitars, hate it) I know alot of guitars have trems, I may be willing to block it off but would really perfer no trem. I'm really liking bands like periphery, intervals, protest the hero. I like the JP7 but I can't help but to feel like I'm paying alot for just the name. One of the store owners was showing me how much each option costs and to have the headstock painted the same color as the guitar was like $200!!! Crazy! I really like the look of this guitar! I know Ibanez had a pestige like this several years ago I just can't remember the name of it! ![]()

Carvins are nice. You can get a decked out one for far less than your budget. Could use the spare cash to get some awesome pickups.

That guitar is (IIRC) an Agile, sold by Rondo Music.
Here's a hardtail version with a tune-o-matic. http://www.rondomusic.com/septorpro725ebemgnatash.html They're about on par with LTD 1000 series guitars. Your best option might be a custom. Acacia Custom Guitars makes AWESOME stuff for 2200 or less.

You re not paying extra for jps name, it's a fine guitar hand made in the united states with the highest craftsmanship on another leve from any other mass produced guitar (on par with suhrs and Parker's).
Jp7 would have all you need. The trem is fantastic, it's comfortable, it has a super fast neck with stainless steel frets and a shredder's neck profile.

I realize that guitar is an agile, I just liked the finish. Looking to go a little more expensive
Those Bowes guitars look beautiful. Last time I played a carvin I wasn't sure if I loved it or not. I will have to look around for a place that carries them again.I would love bareknuckles! Also I hate finished necks Edit: I wasn't bashing music man, I really loved all the JP7s I've tried. I'm just looking to see what else the world has to offer. I'm a real sucker for the exposed grain

Maybe try for a used Ibanez Universe and block the trem? I see them go all the time for <$1600, and that would leave room to get new pickups if you wish.
http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-UV777 I hear good things about Strictly Seven guitars too, and they fall in budget. http://strictly7.com/

The JP7s are very hard to beat. There's a reason why they're endorsed by one of the most technically proficient players out there.
However, I've been looking at Blackats as well if super teles are your thing, but they make a double-cut now. Very well specced, has Bareknuckles if you're set on them, hipshot hardware and a fixed bridge and I've seen some incredible looking tops and finishes on them. They're not the cheapest to get shipped if you live outside of Europe, but their prices seem quite low for what you get to begin with. Still work out less than a used JP7 for the top spec model down under. |

I personally would recommend a Carvin DC727. They've got passive pickups and are fully customizable to suit your needs.

I had a similar problem... At the end it was either a JP7 or a custom guitar. If you are in the States a Carvin is the best option. But i got the JP7 and is awsome!!!!

Customs are another good route- I personally own a few Jon Kammerers* and love them. His standard designs start at $995, with full customs starting at $2000. But since his standard designs don't include a 7...
And there are a lot of other American luthiers with designs in that price range. Look around, and you may just find one who does work you really like. * if you're interested, check him out on FaceBook- his website is down.

Thanks for the opinions folks! I gotta lot of stuff to consider. JP7 is looking like a nice option but there is so much other stuff out there in my price range I'd like to consider first! Any thing else you guys can suggest I would really love to hear. Thanks alot thus far
