Their other guitarist sounds pretty good. He runs an ADA MP-1 (I sold mine to him as a backup) into a Crate power amp and plays a sexy Flying V. He drowns the helpless guy out entirely

And there's **** all guitarists in my town, not like I can just replace him (nor do I want to). Just kind of a shit situation.
The last cover band I was in was like that. I played the Triple Rec (tubed down to 50W) and the other guy...

He used a H&K Warp 7 and B-52 4x12, ran a shitty Boss distortion pedal (that I've never heard of) into the clean channel for distortion, his pedal board was full of broken pedals, and he played a 7 string... without the high e string. He didn't like that string. The Warp 7's onboard distortion wasn't terrible, but he liked the pedal because it was a pedal even though it sounded like distilled ass.

Matt, I'm getting ready to check that out actually. I'm interested in hearing how the bias affects tone.

They're not huge differences. I honestly wouldn't worry about it in the slightest. As long as it's not so cold that you're getting gating and not so hot that it's mushing out, you're good to go. The KT88s were biased to optimum, and then pretty cold, EL34s at optimum, then fairly hot. I just felt they sounded pretty good no matter what.

They all sounded good, I like the colder KT88 the best though. Minor differences however.

EDIT: I'm listening with a pair of Senn HD419's

Pretty cool. I could barely hear any difference through my speakers.

I'm sure the biasing was done with precision, it still reminded me of a TGP thread about biasing to taste.

Actually, it was. I decided to try biasing with a scope like that dude in that TGP thread said to. Works pretty well, though it's unnecessary.

I wish my Fluke was working right, I wanna check the bias on the Splawn. I noticed the other day that V1 has a loose socket, I need to tighten that..

I've been meaning to ask this for awhile and always forget. Is the clean channel supposed to be a lot quieter than the OD on the Quick Rod? With the volume dimed and moderate gain it's only as loud as the OD around 10 or 11.

Yea, the dirty channel has a ton more gain (signal amplification). I remember there being a pretty significant difference on the one I played, but I don't remember where the volumes matched up.

Makes sense. The channels on my Jet City and JSX weren't this different in volume though, or the Trec actually. Maybe I'll get around to posting clips of this and the Vibro Champ someday

Anybody tried the Line 6 412VS cab? Sounded really good. Google says it has V30s. I'll grab one if I see it again for $200 or less at GC Used.

Seriously. The figuring and the color are perfect. Not sure how it would look in a full body shot, but I'd love to see a guitar made entirely out of a piece of wood that looked like that.

Was it your choking the chicken arm? If not you can find something to do...

Seriously- recover nicely. Pain meds will stop you up like a mother ****er. Take something for that sooner than later. It only gets worse.

lol

The PowerPoint slides for my business elective class are hilarious. Literally 3-4 words printed on a slide with the occasional graph. So useless. Some of the slides say they're supposed to have something, but then there's just an image in the center that says I should have come to class.

I liked them all except the optimum EL34s, do love KT88s though

it's a bummer i don't still have the peters custom dual channel.

with the bias adjustment on the back it would be a simple demo.
