i think the only one i ever tried that could switch power tubes was the cornford carrera... had a switch to go between an el84 and a 5881. i mean it made a bit of a difference... but it still sounded like the same amp. Since i tried that i pretty much lost all gas for amps which had "you can swap power tubes" as a massive selling point. don't get me wrong... you might as well have it if you otherwise like the amp. but i'd buy the amp i wanted first, even if it could only take the one power tube.

I didn't notice tons of difference there (which sorta backs up what you were saying). maybe even a bigger difference between the different bias values than between the different power tubes, lol. Though i am listening with crappy laptop speakers, lol.

The only I could notice is there seemed to be a slight bit more saturation on the second KT88. Really they all sounded about the same.

I told my wife I don't like 'God bless you' when I sneeze... She started using the Seinfeld method; 'you are soooooooo good looking.' It's quite nice actually. I especially like it in public.
