Ok... so... I've got a big ****ing turkey. Don't ask me why, it was there so I got it.
Anyone have any kickass recipes? Never made a turkey before... ![]()

Mix some olive oil, salt, and pepper and brush it onto the skin of the turkey.
Drink half a can of beer (tallboy if it's a big turkey). Pour a bunch of spices into what's left, and shove the can up the turkey's butthole. Stand it up on its rear on a charcoal grill and grill until the interior temperature is 185.

I love cooking with beer. The only thing I don't like about cooking with beer is the fact that it's a beer I don't get to drink.

Deep fried turkey is the best turkey I've ever had.
But Colin's idea isn't bad either. Cut a few oranges and lemons in half and shove them in there with the beer can. Gives it a nice citrus flavor, and as the juices drip out it kinda self bastes the inside. A whole turkey takes a long time to cook though. Definitely not a "hey I've got the munchies" kind of meal. Unless you're into salmonella.

That's what my dad does. He injects it with spices, and then deep fries it. I don't have a frier handy, only an oven. Quote:
Thanks. That's what I'm doing, except no grill >.< Should I use a proper IPA? Quote:
I'll probably add some sliced apples, actually. I have so many... While the turkey is cooking, I'll probably have other munches at hand. No worries.

You can do it in the oven, too. Set it to 400. I think a lager would probably work better than an IPA.

How do I post a link to a PDF? All I have is photobucket and I want to link the BV thread I made to the schematic, parts list and component layout.
Thanks. |

Depends what kind of flavor you're going for... To me, using something like budweiser is a waste of time. Maybe for mixing with sauteed onions it would be ok, but I usually use a dark, flavorful beer for cooking. Sautee some onions and hit it with a splash of guinness right before you take them out of the pan... tasty.
A good IPA would probably be pretty good.
