Help: Buying an ukelele

Hi Pit

I am thinking of trying a new instrument and i though that the ukelele is a cool and easy instrument to play but I have some questions about it.

Should I buy an acoustic one or an electric one? I searched famous ukelele players like eddie vedder, the guy from train(hey soul sister), etc but they all use custom ones.

I never played before but I was hoping i could use it live on a gig when I learned it. The problem is it wouldnt be listeanable because its an acoustic instrument. A friend of mine said to play it next to a microphone but i dont think it would be a reliable solution...

I havent found many electric ones online and most of them are really expensive. Another solution i saw was to amplify an acoustic one. What do you think of this solution? Is it a good solution? Or is it expensive or the sound is bad? And what would be the best way to do it?

Ty for help

PS: I wasnt sure where to put this thread so i put it i the PIT

You can get electro-acoustic ones, I've seen them going for as little as £50

Ukeleles are cool if you're doing facebook pop covers from your dorm room, I guess.

I saw the lanikais and seemed a bit expensive although they have pickups built in and thats what i am looking for.

Ukeleles might be good for some pop covers but i wasnt thinking of playing in my doorm room. The idea would be to play it live. It has a different sound that would add to the rest of the band (it would be good in some songs). The problem is that the sound has to be amplified.

Is amplifying an acoustic one using a pickup viable?

It's an historically awkward title. No wait, it's not at all.

I know you're all not used to proper grammar on the internet. Don't worry. we'll make it through this together.

and lol at your examples of illustrious uke players. I actually had to use Google to make sure there isn't an ACTUAL accomplished player named Eddie Veeder.

Some ideas (ukuleles with a pickup system)

Personally I would go for the fretless bass ukulele.

I think you would actually be better off with Taylor Swift.

I just bought the cheapest ukulele I could find and a real cheap piezo pickup. Easy to install, cost me like €40 in total and works like a charm.
