I'm pretty terrible as a beginner, but even I can play the all the riffs on "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", and "Back in the Saddle", so I'd safely say you could play "Amazing." I don't ever attempt solos just because honestly I can't play them, but the solo on "Amazing" sounds pretty hard compared to other Aerosmith songs. It's fairly long and the playing gets faster as it goes on. The rhythm section isn't really complex at all. |

Wow! That is a great setlist. I wish I could have been there. There are some little-known gems in that show. |

Two songs released to radio today. You'll like one, you won't the other. The good one is either called 'Love Her A Lot', 'Lover A Lot', or 'Lover Alot'. It's been listed three different ways. We'll see when the album comes out:
http://ultimateclassicrock.com/aerosmith-lover-alot/ http://soundcloud.com/aerosmith/lover-alot The other one, What Could Have Been Love, is a ballad, obviously aimed at Top 40 radio. Aerosmith's always had success with ballads, which eats us diehards up because it's not what they're about at their core. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/aero...have-been-love/ Actually the audio for the ballad has been removed. I'll see if I can find it.

Yeah, "Love Her a Lot" has only come out for streaming; no downloads yet. I hope it does soon, because it's pretty decent compared to "Girls of Summer" and "Lay it Down" or almost everything off Just Push Play. I expected "What Could Have Been Love" to be a ballad just from the name. I'm curious to hear it though. I'm kind of sick of all the ballads they released from the mid-80's to now. They need to put that attitude back into their songs like "Legendary Child" has. |

I never understood why people reject Aerosmith ballads so often. Most albums have a ballad or two. Toys and Rocks had "You See Me Crying" and "Home Tonight", which have a similar feel to the ones from the 80s/90s albums. So why is it only the more recent ones that get the hate?

Most albums have a ballad or two, that's right. But, the newer albums just seem to have a lot more, especially the last one. It seems every album is softer and more "sensitive" than the last, and they seem to go for a mainstream pop sound on a lot of tracks. The main problem is that most of the singles are ballads or pop songs. I mean, look at the last new singles they released before this year. In '98 "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" became their first number 1 single, and is still their most popular song on iTunes. It was written originally for Celine Dion. The other one from Armageddon was "What Kind of Love are You On" which almost no one knows of its existence, probably because it has a more rock vibe. There was "Pink" and "Hole in my Soul" on Nine Lives which were pop and ballad songs respectively, and "Falling in Love" was more rock but a certain four-letter word defeated a chance at mainstream popularity. On Just Push Play the most successful song was "Jaded," yet another ballad among a bunch of other ballads and pop songs on the album. Then there were "Girls of Summer" and "Lay it Down." I really don't need to explain those. |

More Aerosmith news today.
Songs officially released are Legendary Child, Lover A Lot, and What Could Have Been Love. Also, Joey played Street Jesus on the radio, so people grabbed it. Today, Rolling Stone started a series where they premiere one song at a time from the new album (coming November 6 in the US). The first track is LUV XXX: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/n...emiere-20121017 Because they're oh-so-smart, initially you could replace the song name in the audio url (when you click to listen to the song) to listen to other songs. So some people nabbed other songs, but they might be of variable quality. Rolling Stone will presumably go in order, but I doubt they will show the 5 bonus songs.

Well guys, the day is finally here! Music From Another Dimension is out, and I personally think it's the band's best effort since Get A Grip. I highly recommend it.
Here's the official final track listing: 1. Luv XXX 2. Oh Yeah 3. Beautiful 4. Tell Me 5. Out Go the Lights 6. Legendary Child 7. What Could Have Been Love 8. Street Jesus 9. Can't Stop Loving You 10. Lover Alot 11. We All Fall Down 12. Freedom Fighter 13. Closer 14. Something 15. Another Last Goodbye (Both the standard and deluxe versions bought only from Walmart stores include: 16. Shakey Ground.) The Deluxe Version includes a disc with three bonus tracks: 1. Up On the Mountain 2. Oasis In the Night 3. Sunny Side of Love (The Deluxe Version also includes a DVD including four live performances and interviews with the band members, as well as a surprise collector's poster.) |
