NAD! Almost bootik content?

It's a Rikstone C15a R.
  • PTP wiring built with quality parts (I haven't checked inside, but I trust him )
  • Made in Finland by Risto Kivioja in 2010
  • Accutronics 17" 3 spring reverb tank
  • 4 x 12AX7, 2 x EL84
  • Semiconductor diode rectifier
  • One 12" "Marshall Park Series Custom Loudspeaker"

Here's my useless review of it:

I was looking for something Voxy and I had read some good things about his work, so I decided to take the risk.

It's based on the Matchless Lightning(which is based on the Vox ac15), so it's damn loud and bright (could be because of the V30s in my 2x12).

It's kinda like a budget one-channel version with the addition of a spring reverb of his other amp called Rikstone C15, which has 2 channels, a Celestion Blue speaker, a switch for tube or semiconductor diode rectifier and it uses three 12ax7s and one EF86 instead of just four 12ax7s.

The amp is built into a Marshall Valvestate cab, so it might look a bit ghetto. I don't have much confidence for the plastic Marshall strap handle. I'm currently playing it through the amps cheap speaker and my Fame 2x12 with two Vintage 30s at the same time.

The cleans are magnificent even at low volumes and you can get some really smexy growl out of it, if you play with the volume knobs. The spring reverb sounds a bit "clanky", but I heard that's kinda what they're supposed to sound like. Or is it because that foam thing inside the tank not supposed to be there ?

I did have some fun for several hours just by having the reverb set pretty high and playing some post-rockish stuff.

There's also the Reverb Volume knob, which can be used as boost (I think?) and I'm still trying to figure out how the 3 volume knobs affect the gain and what not.

This picture is from his site. It's from the same model, altough it looks pretty different from my amp. You can check all of his amps at http://www.rikstone.com/

He asked 800 for it, but I told him only had around 700 euros to spend, so he kindly dropped the price to 700. I also asked him if I could use a additional cab with it without bypassing the internal speaker and he said he could add an extra output jack for some extra money, which bumped the total price (including shipping) to 760 with 1 year warranty for the amp and 3 months for the tubes.

Overall I'm really happy with the amp, it's just what I wanted and I know I will have tons of fun with it this summer.

Next step would be to replace the cheap speaker with a Celestion Blue, Gold or some clone, change the handle for a sturdier one and maybe some day get a Fawn colored Vox style cab for the chassis.

Small update:
Falling more and more in love with the amp

Got some more gain out of the amp by almost cranking both of the volumes and putting the master volume pretty much to zero, so it wouldn't kill my ears in two seconds. Sounded huge, but pretty low gain at the same time.

I also found good settings, which I dont feel like messing with anymore. Sounds so good even at low volumes.
It's really cool how clear all the notes sound

My Big Muff also sounds absolutely messed up and massive with it. I'm not sure if it's supposed to sound like that exactly, but I like it alot.
