Cleaning maple fingerboard
Hey guys
Im pretty new to the whole strat thing and strat cleaning, but just wondering what the best material is to clean a maple fingerboard? ive heard just wiping it with a damp cloth will do the job, but also heard human saliva is pretty effective too? lemon oil is a no go >< any tips? |

Oil won't do anything since the board is probably sealed. Don't bother.
To clean a maple board, wipe it down with some lighter fluid and then dry it off. It's reallly all you can do with a maple board. Maybe a toothbrush for all the crap around the frets, that's it. DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL.

Don't spit on the fretboard. Get some Gorgomyte and you're golden. Best stuff I've found for maple.

Since it probably has a thick finish on it, you are cleaning the finish - not the wood. There is a product called Lizard Spit that works very well on damned near every fretboard. Beyond that, any decent fretboard cleaner will work on a sealed, finished fretboard. It is the ebony, rosewood and pau ferro fretboards that are a royal pain in the ass to clean.
