yeah, it's pretty bad. Very fizzy gain. I would strongly advise you try it before you buy it, because you'll probably change your mind about wanting one.

The Krankenstein+ is great IMO, but I wasn't a big fan of the original.

See I liked the rev 1. I haven't played a krankenstein, but from what I heard on damageplan, it sounds awful. I like pretty much everything else I've heard from krank though.

New Found Power was made with Randalls. Dime only used Kranks live, and even then it was only a few months before his death, way after the album came out. From the clips I've heard the Krankenstein sounds alright, nice cleans, awesome dist. Shame there doesn't seem to be hardly any in the UK All the stuff Brendon Small did on Dethalbum I (Dethklok) with the Rev 1 sounds pretty badass. I beleive he used Krankensteins live though. Krankensteins seem to go pretty cheap used in the UK, Once I have enough cash lying around..

Oh I didn't know that. Cool
there's a krankenstein on my Craigslist that's been floating for two or three months. It's at 600$ right now. Perfect accept for a missing handle on the top. I kinda wanted to pick it up but it would require me to sell my rev jr., and that probably ain't gonna happen any time soon.

Yeah from what I read Dime never even used the Krankenstein. It was finished just days before he was killed. He was using Rev series 1 for that I believe

Judging by the youtube videos with Damageplan live, he's using either a custom Rev or a prototype Krankenstein. The shitty phone mics don't do that head justice it would seem. The actual rig he used the night he was killed is on 'display' at Dean guitars HQ. The kranks seem alright, not many people seem to be playing them though, maybe the price tag is off putting? Considering what you could get in the same price range. Can't wait to try one, they seem pretty unique.

im dying to try one, i know hetfield uses them in studio for sure. saw them in his rack in the making magnetic dvd. really have been highly considering a rev jr when amp upgrade time comes around again. if only i could find more info on what it can do and the sounds it can produce.

+1 for truth. I would love a rev. Really the used price isn't bad. I can get a rev for 700 bucks, I mean, it's a vicious amp, not much compares in that range imo. I prefer my chad, but I certainly wouldn't turn down a rev
To Romeo, I'm trying to get together with my friend to record some samples, ill definitely post them here when I get them

I just bought a new Krankenstein Cabinet (4x12, Texas Heats, ported) a few weeks ago and I'm nothing short of impressed with it. Still has that one honky frequency and needs to be broke in more, but it delivers a clear, deep and punishing sound with a JSX. Best clean sound I've ever had from my rig with this cab too. I picked it up after playing on one at our last show. Not sure what I think about the actual amp though... I tried the original once a long time ago and wasn't impressed.

They make great cabs. I wasn't impressed with the first version krankenstein either.
I would love to try the revised version. |

Cool thread.
![]() I don't know much about teh Kranks. I think I would like the Chadwick. BTW - the Splawn has insane amounts of tight low end. You would be hard pressed to make it flub out. I play in 'C' a lot of times with the Bass on 10 o'clock and it still has tons of bass. Looks like you got a little excited and jizzed on it ![]()
