Recovering my head

Hello,
this is my first thread in gb&c so give me a break if things are a little unorganized.

Here is my crap B-52 head that I previously covered in purple tolex.

I did this when I was 14, so obviously I did a pretty bad job.
It also needed to have the hardware either replaced or repainted from the 4 years of playing out. I chose the cheaper and decided on repainting them.

So I pulled all the hardware I painted gold off

Now I had the task of taking the million staples out that I used to hold the tolex down inside. This absolutely sucked.

To be continued.....

I'd use contact glue instead of staples. It will hold and look better.

So now that everything is uncovered I have a few questions before I start putting the new tolex on.

I went with red because the color would be the most annoying. Annoying but people will talk about it at shows. Plus, I have a very special surprise that should tie in the red perfectly.

What is the best way to do the seam to get it too seem like one solid piece?
When I previously did it, I ran into some trouble but I just joined the 2 ends on the bottom so only I knew about it.

What is the best adhesive I can pick up from walmart?

The 3m spray adhesive works wonders for me, ive used it on 4 or 5 amp projects now and never had an issue. I follow Ampegs finishing procedure where you cut a piece slightly longer than two sides and the top, than a single piece to cover the bottom and the overlap. I have a head build over here if you want to see the final wrapping effect. You could also try to seam it but i find that it doesnt age well and starts to flak at some point.

Ampeg head build

okay, I was just asking because I know some glue doesn't do well in heat.

Okay,
I made major progress after my kid took a nap.

Painted all the hardware black

Make sure you spring for the more durable grill black paint; This stuff was absolutely horrible.

So me and the woman started on the tolex, the 100 degree heat didn't help at all.
P.S. make sure you make measurements before you buy tolex instead of just guessing. We came up a little short length wise and had to cut diagonal

The diagonal seam made things extremely hard to line up. I forgot to take more pictures during the process but it was so awful. The material wasn't really cooperating and my corners didn't turn out so hot.

The corners pretty much got all the paint scratched off from doing nothing. I had to think quick and noticed the corners on my Crate practice amp were diesel. This is going to be my main gigging amp so the more punishment it can take the better.

I left the back purple because I thought it looked neat. Makes my whole set up is a clash of colors!

I still need to cut the vent holes on top and put the other hardware on it.

I just put in an order for a "Grill", I'll keep it a secrete for right now but it's going to be a cool sight. I've never seen anyone do it before so hopefully I am the first.

Also, does anyone know how to take the printed words off on the metal chassis?

Yeah, it was really looking turdy.
I am not done yet though!

I'll probably be finished sometime next week, I have to wait for something to get here from Canada

My new face plate for my guitar head is on the way!
Being custom made in Caņada!

Can anyone give me tell me if a battery located in my guitar head will cause any kind of interference?

Pretty different. People will be talking.

Seriously pretty cool. Are you going to backlight the front cover?

why not use power from the amp to light it up rather than a battery? It shouldn't cause noise though, no. At least it never did when i had three to power fans in my amp.

ps. this thing's pretty sweet.

You can tap into the power supply for the heaters if there is enough headroom built in.

No tube heaters in this or fans. It's solid state

I've got a schematic for the head but I have no idea how or where I could draw power for 12v.

I forgot to take pictures of making a plexiglass case for the marquee but it was boring and just involved sanding pieces to fit.

I had a 4x12 that was also sparkley purple and had a gold grill.
Both had the triforce on them but they got basically destroyed from me jumping off of the and the grill fell off the head and cab.

I kinda wish my orange cab was a little more reddish.
