I'm so very excited for this match, Not even sure who I will choose. Will need to give all the albums are real good listen. My bias is at Graveland, but that D666 album just REEKS of Roman arrogance and pride. And Neal's choice ought to be just as prideful as any of them. If D666 wins then that means that the person this rounds winner was supposed to face would just win their next round, which would be RG, so RG is'nt allowed to vote on this one.

I'm wondering if it's as much playing to the crowd as it is anything else.
I find a lot of people allow their imagination to take them further if they like an album, and FTVOB is a very well respected album around these parts.

However D666 and Gravelend struck me as more a sort of fury and hatred than it did a pride, but it'll be interesting to see what everyone gets from each respective release.

I had a tough time choosing this round and narrowed it down to 7
Forefather - Ours is the Kingdom
Forteresse - Métal Noir Québécois
Graveland - Immortal Pride
Kawir - Ophiolatreia
Primordial - To The Nameless Dead
Велимор - Наш Мир
Темнозорь - Горизонты...

Velimor I felt was more an aesthetic than any actual pride, Primordial was more passion that pride, and not about any real unified subject, Graveland I got more fury than pride as mentioned above, I know Forteresse don't get a lot of love around here and most would cry musical wallpaper and claim they got nothing from it, which left me with Forefather, Kawir and Temnozor. I kind of felt whilst Kawir have pride in their lyrics and stuff, it didn't come across well in the music, which left it a toss up between Temnozor and Forefather. But I feel the theme's of pride and the war like ideal that comes with being under a banner are better represented lyrically and in the heroic feel of Forefather. Even if I do perhaps feel that Temnozor have the better album.

Lord Wing is more prideful than Graveland. I would have personally gone with Der Sturmer-Transcendental Racial Idealism , I find the melodies on that album are more glorious and prideful than anything. I will have to listen to Forefather. It all really depends on the conception of what pride is entailing. D666 is a way more individualistic kind of pride for sure, Graveland is a kind of call to arms for European people, and I have yet yo hear Forefather.

I considered TDR, but I felt that it didn't give a concise thing to be proud of and again I felt prejudice more than pride. Like more furious than proud. To me celebrates what which we have, rather than be angry against that which we deem unacceptable.

I feel Forefather is like a glorious celebration of our (or certainly my) Ænglisc heritage, and it's ultimate demise. I just hope there isn't an Ænglisc/Vinlandic divide again with it being a very English album as The Mercian Sphere was.

If you were thinking Kawir, how did you slip over Necromantia?

I would of had trouble choosing between Ancient Pride, Hammerheart, Crossing the Fiery Path, and probably VV.

The Kawir album is basically a tribute to the Greek Gods, and very sort of pagan pride, and cultural pride, so it seemed quite fitting. However I only have one Necromantia album, and I don't know it all that well, so that's why

Hammerheart would be the obvious choice.

I think I'd have gone with Dawnbringer - Into the Lair of the Sun God, and shot for the "pride as folly" take.

If you don't hear the pride in Unchain The Wolves, then you should probably get yer ears checked.

Ultimately a lot of metal lays aesthetic claims to Pride but only so many outfits can actual create a sound of pride.

Forefather is actually a little unfamiliar territory. I have listened to them previously but never acquired an album. I have heard good things and one of the Divines is a big fan of the album.

Graveland is absolute legend.

This battle should be good, vote or die on your knees.
