No, it was only getting a few votes per round in the end so it ground to a halt. It'd need to start again from the beginning with a new set of contestants and probably someone new running it before it could even get going.

Oh, that sucks this was a cool idea. Seemed to be really taking off when I was here last. What a shame.

This was an awesome creation that I adored to death.

Sadly it's hard for people on the internet to be proactively productive together reliably and consistently. It also seemed hard to get people on a music forum to spend a few hours a week listening to music. But what is even more confusing is that these same people on an internet forum didn't really seem to like the idea of talking on said forum if it took more then 30 seconds.

I feel bad for disappearing actually, but I really hated to see so many rounds come to so few votes. So, so, so few votes. It was hard to put effort into, so I took a hiatus from UG altogether.

But I digress.

I wouldn't mind trying this again, though it seems a fruitless fancy. Doubt it will be any different.

I think one of the problems is that the game just took so long. I don't remember how many participants we had but I think if we do it again we should take measures to reduce the amount of time it takes, maybe by either reducing the amount of participants or by running more than one round at the same time, particularly in the early stages.

Here's an idea;

Me and Riffmast build a tourny template like we had. Same bracket style. I then randomly fill the slots and then before we begin the tournament I will beforehand let everyone see the bracket so they can prepare. I will then PM each battle their theme so they can prepare their choice with advance notice. We can then have each battle occur simultaneously, preferably having a thread for each battle so minimize clutter in one huge thread. Everyone then votes, blah blah blah.

I unfortunately don't see how that will help with voting participation which was the biggest problem.

We could revive this though, I have so much more free time to put into this then I did when I first ran it.

Anything that will get this forum with more people posting again is good in my eyes. Even if it's shitty people like christ grinder, or Dylar.

I will vote every time however.

I'm definitely in if it starts back up. Just a suggestion, what if we used songs instead of whole albums? It would cut down on game time significantly and it would create greater diversity in how we interpret a given theme, if that makes sense.

I might give this a shot, for once. It was a great thread, and I managed to hear some great music I would have bypassed well and truly otherwise. There are a lot of people on this forum who's knowledge of music dwarfs mine, but all the same.

One of the reasons, aside from lack of time, that I skipped it previously, is because I started to find it really hard to review music. It's difficult to be objective; on one hand there's the danger of analyzing too much, until all you see is the constructing elements and not the whole, or the impact it creates; or the opposite, in some cases.

Anyway, I'm blabbing on again. Tl;dr would be good to see this running again; will be a nice change from "Asking Alexandria pick size" threads in this forum

I'd love to try this again. Especially since in a few weeks school will be done for me, leaving me more time to participate [although I could find time next week/this weekend if we started it that soon].

I understand this and would like to somehow work to fix this. Maybe voters can choose to review or simply give a somewhat detailed opinion on the two albums, how they relate to the theme, and cast their vote. We all don't have to have Haytham's infinite lexicon. Encouraging this mindset could vastly increase votes, I just want to maintain a few standards for voting as to avoid "I like this one better" post.

Alas.

I know I'd be able to review everything this time around, not being in the military service anymore and whatnot...

Certainly, - and the presence of a theme I think makes the task a bit easier, because you can view each album in some sort of context.

Well for anyone who would want to give this a shot, PM me. Only do this if you are positive you will make the time and effort for minimum contribution.

I wasn't the best participator, but I would like to revive this thread. I'll definitely try harder this time to participate in a timely fashion, because this was by far the best and the most interesting thing that has been done in the metal forum.
