im in a pop punk band playing similar sounding songs to all time low, fall out boy, and stuff like that, im really into the SG, ive seen the singer of fall out boy use one as well, so i was wondering which is better
the reason its between these two, is because these are the only two SG's in my price range that are lefty
ive never really had a use for my neck pickup, which is why i was gonna go with the jr, but i just dont know enough about guitars to just drop 800 bucks on one without getting second opinion, theres also the 60's tribute available in lefty which is a limited run or whatever, maybe consider that one as well, but anyways, what do you think would be better? ive never seen these mini humbuckers before, so i wasnt sure how they sound and all that, so, ya, thanks for the help
oh and i like that the 70s comes in silverburst, i love that finish so much

The pickups in those guitars are different.

The Jr has a P-90. The 70's tribute has mini humbuckers. So I would judge it mainly on the pick ups.

I used to rarely use my neck pick up. Now I use it all the time. Personally I think it is very useful to have. So personally I would encourage people towards have a neck pick up.

Minibuckers sound mostly like full-size humbuckers, they just have slightly tighter mids and bass; they really are halfway between P-90s and normal humbuckers, in terms of tone.

I would get the Tribute. You can replace those minibuckers with P-90s if you decide you prefer that tone, but you can't easily replace the dogear P-90 in the Junior with a humbucker, at least not without spending a fortune on custom-made pickups. You also can't add a neck pickup to the Junior easily, but it's easy enough to just ignore the neck pickup on the Tribute if you decide you don't need it.
Most importantly though, the Junior has a wraparound bridge which gives good sustain but can't really be adjusted to correct intonation. The Tribute has a tune-o-matic which you can adjust however you want. That, to me, makes it a no-brainer.

Really, both will work for what you want. The Tribute is the more flexible, more practical choice, though.
