I'm a fan of Warhammer 40k. I wish there was an online tabletop game.

Technically, the recommended max is six players, and I've got two on board already (although one's had his computer stolen, although he'll most likely get it back), but you can have a bigger game. I've heard it's best with four to six players, though.

I'd be up for a game of Paranoia, though I have no prior experience with any P&P RPG and have no microphone for voice chat. >_>

Because we're all thousands of miles away from each other.

I am kinda curious to try this, have never played tabletop seriously. How much time does a game take, usually?

(I realize that this varies from game to game, but among those you are currently recruiting players to.)

I play Pathfinder at college but I prefer 1e D&D. I've run a few games and it's the first tabletop I played. I've played in a GURPS game once.

EDIT: ^I like to have a good five or six hours at least for a session of D&D. I've had campaigns that lasted six sessions and some that took a college semester.

I've been thinking about doing that, as well.

I'd also like to try giving another one of your campaigns a shot, if you decide to DM again.

Games can go anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours. How many rules you need to handle depend on the game as well. Pathfinder has rules for everything, therefore shit is normally quite balanced. White Wolf systems (World of Darkness, Exalted, Scion) use dots to measure your stats and your skills, if you want to do anything you sum the competent stat and the competent skill + any bonuses of circumstance and roll that number in 10 sided dice. It's a far more intuitive system, but there's also easier ways to 'break' it.

Also DO those character logs. I'll try to do a small and concise campaign log after I'm done with my finals. Perhaps we should include gentlemen interested in the OP so we can keep in touch?

And the OP is looking so much better

Base it off Exalted. Bam, instant anime level powers.

I find myself less and less excited by each successive edition of 40k. It just seems like the focus on the game is how many dice you can roll at once, instead of, you know, tactics.

Okay, I feel kinda compelled to try it out. If anyone intends to host a game (and guide me on the path of wisdom like the big baby I am) anytime soon, let me know

I like the new edition. Assault marines are useful, non-eldar non-chaos psykers are useful, speeders will be useful... It just feels more rounded. Also, massive tank nerf.

Well, I mean, I've got a Paranoia campaign I've been trying to start. Hit me up in a PM for details.

Only pen & paper/tabletop RPG I've wanted to REALLY play is the Serenity RPG.

Never had the money for the books to learn up on it, as a kid, and never had the friends who played them, but tabletops games have always looked fun.

Out of reach, but fun.

I had an idea for a campaign set in a Middle Eastern-like setting. Well, more of a mix of Eastern Europe, Arabia, Israel, India, Vietnam, China, and maybe Mongolia.

Not really, it's much grittier and very much a low/dark fantasy setting.
