One word: Tool. They have an insane show visually, and Maynard can actually sing (yes!)

I'll echo the Metallica, Opeth, Tool statements. I'll also add Nine Inch Nails to that. Saw them after With Teeth, which wasn't my favorite album from them, but amazing show nonetheless... actually I saw 'em 3x on that tour.
Superjoint Ritual was awesome as well... their rage & grittiness perfectly matched the aggression of Use Once & Destroy. Down kicked ass too. Alice In Chains was amazing... Jerry Cantrell solo was actually my first "big" rock concert (before that was just some local stuff) so that JC show will always have a special place in my memory. Megadeth 2x, first time on Gigantour was amazing & really re-kindled my interest in them. The pit to Holy Wars was ****in' nuts. 2nd time w/ Exodus & Testament was also good, but Dave's voice either sucked, or the venues PA was just shite. Most likely a combination of both. Seen a ton of other shows, but those are the stand out acts for me |

Seconding Electric Wizard, SunnO))) and Suffocation. Napalm Death, Anaal Nathrakh and Eyehategod deserve a mention.
Church of Misery too actually, what a show they put on. Their bassist is unbelievable and the vocalist is a complete nutter.

At the Gates and Nifelheim are easily the two most intense bands i've seen live. Volture were really energetic and managed to get a packed bar going crazy, same for Discharge too.
Edit: forgot about a local sludge band called Tide of Iron. Heaviest band i've ever seen, had the entire building rumbling, even the pavement outside too. Really good tunes too.

Suffocation and Immolation hands down. No ****ing competition. Bob Vigna is the ultimate showman when the show is going well, and since it's Immolation then he's just going nuts all of the time. Not to mention they are some of the chillest dudes ever and they always seem to try and call out everyone they can in the smaller gigs, and are really cool about talking after a show.

Metallica sound good when Lars can be bothered to actually play drums at the right tempo. Else it's just painful.

Dream Theater, they are insane players and keep in time extremely well. A flawless performance of lost not forgotten nearly blew my mind, completely unreal!
Also Iron Maiden, not only do they play godly, but their theatrics are top notch!

I shed many tears during Primordial's set. Very passionate. I think it was their first time in Canada too.

The Contortionist sound amazing live. They don't move, like at all, but they've been so spot on the 5 times I've seen them. Also, BTBAM are probably the best band I've seen live. I'll pay good money and travel far to see them, any day.

Trivium, Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, Devil Wears Prada, For Today, and Whitechapel all sound AMAZING live. honestly, some of them sound better live than they do on albums, in my opinion.
