Mudhoney

I was going to post this in the Modern Rock forum since they're what we call, "Grunge" but I want to see what kind of reaction I get here. Anyone heard of this band? They are highly acclaimed as one of Seattle's best grunge bands. For those who don't know mudhoney, listen to this and tell me what you think:

You Got It (Keep it out of my face)
In N Out of Grace

Before mentioning anything grunge, here are some ground rules on grunge. To be grunge you need to come from Seattle during the 80s/early 90s. These are the only two requirements, therefore grunge isn't a genre. There are plenty of grunge bands who sound completely different, Mudhoney are evidently a punk band.

Just trying to spread some grunge bands to other forums and let you guys see grunge isn't a genre.

They were the openers for Pearl Jam when they came here in São Paulo last year. They only played for 20 minutes, so i couldnt get good opinion of them. Didnt like them very much at the time, maybe because one of my favourite bands played afterwards. Whatever.
Which album would you reccomend, so I can listen and like them?

Mudhoney are my second favourite band. My favourite song is Into The Drink. I hate the new album, Under a Billion Suns, exept the songs I Saw The Light and Empty Shells. Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge is my favourite album with Superfuzz Bigmuff in a close second.

Indeed I did. Your post doesn't change the fact that

1. Mudhoney is grunge
2. Grunge goes in the modern rock forum.

1. Do you know what grunge is?

Mudhoney is a punk band. You didn't read my post properly because grunge is not a genre. Grunge doesn't mean Modern Rock you know.

CowsWithGuns, GoodNite_AmyLee is right, so shhh. Grunge isn't a genre. Most grunge bands identified themselves as punk anyway.

From what I've heard of them (I've only been able to get Rehab Doll) they are quite good.

I know that Mudhoney has a lil "punky" sound to them, in addition to the grungy, dirgy sound and that they cover the D*cks "D*cks Hate The Police", but Slayer and Metallica cover punk songs and aren't considered punk.

Punk is punk and grunge is grunge and ne're the twain shall meet.

A little punk doesn't cut it. They are a straight up punk band. There isn't a sound to grunge. What's different between Slayer/Metallica and Mudhoney is that Mudhoney is primary a punk band, they don't play any other genre.

I didn't start this thread for a discussion about genres. If you have nothing to contribute please leave.

EDIT: FFS FFS. Grunge isn't a sound, it isn't a genre stuffmuffin.

The grunge sound is slow, dirgy metal, hence "grunge".

You can hear it in Mudhoney songs like "I'm Spun", which sounds like a metal band like Crowbar could have done it.

I agree that much of their other work is "punky", but they are a grunge band and "grunge" is a sound and genre.

EDIT: Lest ye retort, " that's the only song they do like that", the following Mudhoney songs have the grunge sound:

Suck you dry
I have to laugh
Sweet young thing ain't sweet no more
Judgement, rage, retribution & thyme
A thousand forms of mind

They are one of my favourite bands. I wanted to go see them at the Koko I think they played where they did all of superfuzz bigmuff in one set but I was on holiday and they were in London and I come from Scotland so any way. So I like them yeah.

Theyre okay, but not in here.

These are one of the grunge bands I will defend a little bit.
