A very nice 18W'er:

They also have a 36W'er which is basically the same thing but with twice as many EL84's.
Can't speak to the quality of the trannys they use but others here have said that they perform quite well and they are cheap.

They'll all give you that rich plexi tone.

Or if you want to be a tad eccentric:

I'll even knock off $50 for you.

Jack is my favorite whiskey... do you really live in Aus though? That's about what I'm looking to pay...

If you read the thread you will see that I said I "didn't like" the tones. I even went out of my way to say I used it in the studio and live and it was fine. I just don't like it

Yeah. Postage to the States was about $130 iirc.

Here's a clip of it running through a bog standard 1960A. you can hear me kick in an od pedal for a short passage at the end of the intro but otherwise it's all down to picking strength.
My playing's a bit rough but it demonstrates the tone of the amp pretty well. The guitar is nothing fancy, just an entry level Iceman with the stock Ibby pups.

Edit. Oh yeah, there's a bit of reverb from an old Alesis picoverb sitting in front of the amp too.

who said that?

i thought he just wasn't digging on the tone for his style.

i never dug on the DRRI's, i personally thought my old hot rod deville was a better amp.

Just FYI, I saw a Bluesbreaker reissue listed for $900 on my local craigslist (philly) about a month ago. Seems like the going rate on ebay is 900-1000, so keep your eyes open for a deal! As you mention, there are a ton of great clones out there as well. That JD marshall sounds pretty great...

You could also look for a Mesa lonestar combo. May be a bit of a strech, but I have seen them going for under $1000 locally. Very versatile amp, so that may be a plus if you're going to be doing a lot of work in the studio. Higher wattage than what you were looking for, but it is switchable down to 50 (down to 10 on newer ones) and it has a very usable volume control. Might be worth a look
