Unusual features of your rig

Have anything unusual about your set up and like to tell GG&A post it here.

I primarly play metal and I run a open back 212 by choice.
I use a dirt pedal for my gain because my amp is a non master volume tube amp with very little gain.
I use a univibe for metal.
I run a digital reverb on top of my amps reverb.

I use my wah pedal as a volume pedal for higher notes, because their frequencies can be cut out with it.
I don't use any modulation, nor reverb.
My SG is always tuned to DADGBe.

I run a Boss NS-2 X connected into my Strymon Modded Line 6 Spider Valve. The shocker? It sounds good dirty and gets a clear clean sound. And its a Line 6.

Shocking?

Nah. Imo most line6 products are good but they got a bad reputation because of the spider amps and because they use modelling technology :P

I used a whammy pedal for this song in a Pop Punk band I was playing with for the opening which was two power chords in different octaves. Just played the low octave and then hit the octave up setting.
I guess I was just being lazy and apathetic.

my amp has this weird thing where if I use the clean channel, the pre amp gain on the distortion channel affects the sound. Up until about 8/10, it sounds more trebley, and my metal zone has alot of the trademark fizz. after 8, it cuts the fizz and sounds wayyyy different.

Also my metal zone's mids knob is bust.

I lay my 4x12 cab on it's side since it only has two wheels. I had it like this for a whole year now. I'm just to lazy to take off the wheels or to add them. Many people ask my if I lay my cab on the side to get a different sound. I find it funny

I think the most unusual feature of my rig is that i use a solid state amp specifically for the stiffness of the bass frequencies.

Both my whole rigs are unusual, though only in pretty basic ways. My solid state simply because people don't expect a Line 6 amp running straight to the mixer to sound good, but the sound quality actually floors most people, and my valve rig simply because I run all the effects - including the modulation, reverb and delay - in front of the amp, even when using the distorted channel.

That said, I have been known to use a few unusual tones, mostly revolving around a polyphonic octave, chorus and a volume pedal, wah or talkbox to create various synth-like sounds. It's not that crazy when you think about it, but it's surprising how many sound guys start to look worried the second I set it up.

I always run my delay into my noise suppressor so I can get a nice full sound without the long trails behind the delay. This makes lead licks sound great, but I don't have to worry about the old delays tripping over the licks when I go to the next series of notes. I love it.

Other than that, I have pretty much stopped using my overdrive pedal on any of my amps.

I also run almost all alnico 5 magnet pickups in my guitars, even though I play almost exclusively metalcore and modern-voiced prog metal.

I also run all eminence speakers with all my stuff (not super different, but definitely not the V30s that all these modern metal guys are hard for). The 412 has 4 Texas heats and my 6505+ has a screamin' Eagle in it.
