Found an old Crybaby...

Hey guys!

I was digging around my old parts bin and I came across this.

It was in rough shape (the pot was falling out and a few solder joints where cold/ripped out. Also its missing the bottom plate) but I've managed to get it working after a bit of TLC.

Anyway, I was wondering if there's any way to identify it without the base plate? I would guess its an 80s model but I'm not basing that off anything I actually know about crybaby pedals

The only thing I can identify it with is that it has a silver Ducati Bipolare cap, the pot reads "ICAR P11" and the black box at the top reads "ARROW - Made in England" Nothing else seems to have a marking.

Thanks in advanced

Nah, its way older than the 80s. Judging by the tropical fish caps and the ICAR pot.

edit: its a bad picture, but if its all original, it looks like the first generations of wah wah pedals from around 1970 +- a few years

wow really?

So it's more likely an Italian one?

EDIT: I don't have a great camera but I'll try to take some more detailed pictures

The circuitboard layout matches the old Vox Clyde McCoy wahs. I've got no idea about any other wah history.

No idea if its worth gazillions of $$$ on ebay without the bottom plate either.

I'm not really worried about value. It's a cool pedal and it has mojo so I'm keeping it.

As for the baseplate, I'm hoping its lying around somewhere. If not, I'll have to make one to keep the guts in

Thanks man!

It's times like this I wish I still had my vertical input 800. I bet this wah would sound SWEET through that thing.

Anyway, I found a baseplate but it has no markings:

and another shot:

It kind of looks somebody lost the baseplate and made a new one out of sheet metal.

Some googling for various photos of the interiors of old wahs seems to reinforce the idea that it's 1960s, I think you're going to have to try another forum if you want an exact rundown on its origin because most of us on here don't have the income to hoard vintage wah wahs

Yeah I figured as much. They usually have crybaby on the plate right?

Well thanks very much for the help. I'll probably make an account at TGP or something if I'm really curious.
