Appetite For Destruction, no joke, saved my life. I literally owe my life to Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven. They were and always will be the best and most dangerous band ever to walk this Earth.

This song...
Turned me from classic rock snob to hipster snob. but really this was just the tip of the iceberg of a whole new way of approaching music for me.

You Could Be Mine by Guns N' Roses.
Terminator II brought that song to my attention which opened my eyes to music. |

Linkin Park really got me into listening to music. It was also a great blend of rap and rock.

I first started listening to Weezer. They really inspired me, because I feel the same way as Rivers Cuomo about a lot of things. His lyrics really spoke to me. Then, I started listening to Cage the Elephant. They are still the most amazing band I have ever heard. When I am angry, they calm me down. When I am sad, they pick me up. When I am uninspired, they inspire me. Arctic Monkeys helped me become a better songwriter. They hardly repeat the same riff in a song. Then, Modest Mouse and the Pixies got me into indie rock, which I am obsessed with. After indie, I became a Nirvana fan (I know, seems backwards doesn't it?). Kurt Cobain inspires me to become a better songwriter every day, and one day I hope to repay that favor to some young person.

1. Iron Maiden (specifically Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter) was pretty much the first non-chart music I listened to. I've since gone through metal and come out the other side more or less, but I still have a soft spot for them, and go see them whenever they tour near me.
2. Yellow Magic Orchestra got me into a. Electronic music and b. Japanese music. Still one of my favourite bands. So thanks YMO ![]()

Tough to say really. I've always had a fairly open mindset to music, since I was exposed to a ridiculously diverse variety of music when I was a young'un thanks to my brother and parents. I've always loved music from all different genres and I can't really pinpoint a specific artist or album that significantly altered the way I approach and enjoy music.

I remember now. This is the piece that really sent me over the edge for classical music:

There is a couple of songs that changed me and will always resonate with me first i would have to say Hell of a Time from HellYeah because I was bullied as a kid and finally my God brother stepped in and took me under his wing and changed me and him made this group of friends and this song and video used to remind me of the that old group in how we would be and the shit we would get into now this song appeals to me still because since the split of that little crew we had after a falling out and people moving on Me and God brother to this day stay close and he had introduced me to people that I can not live with out and when the week end come I think of this song and I just pulls me out of this depression and I know come Friday I hang with him and the two ladies we regularly hang with I just feel better
The next thing in music that changed me Pantera again as mentioned above my God brother who is about 5 years older than had taken me in as a little brother because of all the shit that I was put through and we bonded over metal and Pantera was just that group that we would listen to and brings back memories and it changed me because there is always a song that would fit the mood are situation we found ourselves in weather we got in to a fight people or we just wanted to smoke a little or drink it was something that I look to that really brought me close to some one that I look up to it was a brotherly bonding that I never had and when i hear a pantera song I just have a happy memory to almost every song that they have out and it is just something that i hold dear to myself |

Red Hot Chili Peppers and the album Maggot Brain, especcially the song, they caused me to change my style from a more technical wankery to a more emotional style.
