What effect is this?

Hello!

I'm new on this forum and I am therefor still unsure where to place my threads but I hope I can get some help here.

To the point. I am wondering what effect is used in this song.

It's the part that starts at 1.33 and ends at 1.53 and it's that simple lick in the background that seems to be shifting the way it sounds even though it's played the same during the entire segment. It's kind of hard to hear but I hope you know what I'm talking about.

I've been told various things such as Phaser, Wah-wah but no one has been exactly sure. I hope you guys can figure this one out.

Thanks in advance!

Knowing Laiho, i'd say it's a wah pedal. But I'm not sure either.

It doesn't sound like anything to me. Just shifting between notes is all. Nothing enough to distinguish a wah, phaser, or anything like that for me at least

Alexi's just sorta going back and forth through the 'sweet-spot' of his wah. He uses a lot of mids, so that might possibly be why some people can't tell what it is.

Yeah, it's a wah. Phaser/other modulation effects (flanger, chorus) would have that kind of "woosh" sound.

The first guess by everybody is a phaser because they don't really know how it sounds like.

I'm pretty sure it's a flanger set fairly low, because I did hear that whooshing sound. But it's hard to hear over that accursed voice.

If there is an effect, it's REALLY subtle, so I'm guessing that whatever T-SHIRTS hears is simply a different tone, perhaps an EQ boost.

really? i mean the track is way in the back but the effect itself really isn't. it's very "squishy", though there's definitely some adjustment throughout it so i'm not inclined to go with an auto-wah, and certainly not a phaser/flanger

Flanger sounds way different. It sounded more like some frequencies were boosted (wah does that). Flanger has that kind of metallic sound, I can't explain it. But it might also be without any effects. Doesn't sound like that sound was processed a lot.

Could have just been an eq, perhaps added in when they were mixing the track.

It's either NOTHING, or a WAH. Hard to decide. I see what you mean though.
