Guitar strap locks..

So i've been getting a lot more br00tal lately when i play with my strap on and now my strap is torn and wont keep on my guitar very long. I was just using a basic ibanez strap that i got when i bought my first guitar.

So now i'm searching for a new strap but i want it to have some sort of locking mechanism. It seems after looking on ebay and such there's either lockable straps. EG.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Plan...=item3f1c4be730

Or there's some sort of lock thing such as this..

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ernie-Ba...=item19cf9c790d

So my question is what's the best way to go? I have pretty much no experience when it comes to locking straps.

Also money is absolutely no concern so i'm not looking for any cheap alternatives to the best thing.

Don't bother. Get some Schaller strap locks. Toughest and most straight-forward, secure design available.

Personally I like to use nice padded leather Levy's straps with Schaller locks. I ave never had an issue with them. I also just got a set of the Dunlops and they are nice as well. If you want to go cheaper and bulletproof at the same time, the Dimarzio cliplocks are a great option. I have used dozens over the years and they never fail.

Don't bother with either of those you linked.

I use Schallers and more recently I got a set of Dunlop Dual Designs which work great also.

I agree with everybody else here. Schallers really are the best. I just bought 4 sets of them for the rest of my guitars, after they had the dimarzio clip locks. Now all my guitars except one (which have the dunlop dual designs) have the schallers. Definitely worth the money.

Honestly, I got me like a $20 pair of locks that I bought at a Guitar Center, some cheapy brand I've never heard of, and they're doing me just fine.

schallers. idiot proof to install, work brilliantly, last a long time and you can still use regular straps.

Schaller's only cost about $15.

Yeah Schallers and Dunlops rather than a locking stap since you can use them with any strap you want to.

I've never had any strap issues on guitars I've put a DiMarzio ClipLock on. They work great.

I think they work great as locks. But I found that the plastic clips scratched by guitars when they sat in my rack. Thats why I switched mine out. I suppose you could glue a piece of felt on the backs of the clips or something like that. But the damage had already been done unfortunately. If I didnt have those issue with them - I would have kept them on!

I have them on all my guitars and basses and I've never had them scratch the finish. I always tighten them as much as the screw can go and then let off about a quarter turn, just enough so the ends can swing around.

Lucky for you man. I had them on 4 of my guitars, for just about a month, and it scratched all of them. I found the culprit to be the raised logo/writing on the back of the clip that attaches to the guitar. Every guitar, almost the exact same spot where it rests at when Im not playing it. I was pretty bummed out about it. You cant beat them for the price. I had covered the backs with a piece of duct tape which took care of the scratching issue, but at that point I was just ready for something else.

The only ones GC carries are Schaller, Dunlop, Allparts(cheap verson of schallers), ernie ball, and LOXX. None are much more than $20. If you do happen to go with Schallers, do yourself the favor of getting the real ones.

I just use a Planet Waves lock guitar strap. No messing about with unscrewing the original screws and screwing new locks in - just put the strap on and tighten the locking mechanism.

I use the Ernie Ball click lock straps. They're just great!
