Do you honestly think anybody who is properly famous (and therefore may actually be able to give you a real answer) is actually going to read this?

All you have to do is transfer a large sum of monies into my bank account and I will tell you. It's a once in a lifetime offer, do not hesitate!

Don't listen to this imposter, give me all your bank account deals and I promise your fortunes will change faster than you can blink.

Being a good musician has far less relevance to getting famous than you'd think. Most people don't care how good someone is at their instrument. As long as they can play something they like, who gives a crap?

Play in a band, and play gigs. You'll probably be playing in smaller, local clubs for years before anyone notices you. If you're lucky you might scrape enough money and support for a small regional tour (with no label support, mind you).

Also, massive amounts of luck. After that, the people skills and gumption needed to capitalize on the lucky stuff that does comes your way.

Hey, this is Pitbull. I can prove it too. Dale.

Anyway, the answer you're looking for is guest spots. Ask other bands if you can spit a verse on their songs. Repeat until the airwaves permeate with your voice. The labels won't know what hit them.

You don't have to thank me for the advice. It's my pleasure.

Oh, and you can buy this stuff at your nearest wal-mart:

It's a steal of a deal.

A band is a small business. Start with a product and sell sell sell.

Most businesses fail.

Also check out what path your favourite artists took to getting big. There are a couple of common themes, but usually a lot of work, time, connections and luck are big parts of it.

Go to Russia, play in front of a church, and say that Putin is the devil. You'll be so famous!

Your music makes that call. Not you. Soo...get over yourself would be my first advice.

Unless you type worse than that and meant to put an "If" at the start of that sentence. In which case, it all depends on how much creativity you and your band mates have. I imagine it grows the more you use it. But if you don't adapt well enough, it will be harder to satisfy the demand.

But in the mean time, just promote your music well and let it speak for itself. It's okay to hope to be famous, but don't have any firm expectation. That's the worse you can do to yourself.

It's like being a mod on our very own UG. Once you ask how, you're automatically disqualified.

By asking how to get famous, you now never will. Just screwed yourself over, sorry dude.

Here's a guaranteed way...write great songs. It's a proven method that has worked for people like The Beatles, The Stones, Sting, U2, and lots of others.

Good luck.

Good luck.

What about people who write great songs and don't get a break?
