That f#cking horrible b#tch-cow and her b#tch-calf from that TLC toddler pageant show are famous. Famous is overrated.

On the other hand, it lets you know how to become famous. Let your life turn into a hillbilly cluster-f#ck and pitch it to some lazy producer at Fox/CBS/ABC/NBC, and they'll turn it into a reality show.

I'm genuinely curious how often this happens. Somebody writes great songs, gets out there, pushes them ... and never catches a break.

I think there are a reasonable number of people who have written a couple of okay songs who've never gotten a break. But great songs?

I dunno. I think cream rises.

it depends. there are some electronic albums i have that aren't marketed at all and they're amongst my all-time favorites, and there are albums like formless by aghora that i used to be in love with, but most people would think it's just weird stuff.

but typically an intelligent person, in this day and age, will get his stuff out there. the internet is the best marketing tool known to man, and if you put in even a little time and effort, you can use it to your advantage.

The internet is a stellar marketing tool, but it is mostly over-saturated from advertising. I rarely ever check out small bands that carpet bomb spam.

That said, I can spend hours on youtube listening to bands I've never heard before.

borrow a $500 camera and play along to a DIY recording and you can at least get your toe in the door.

scott fernandez did it, and while he's not famous, a few thousand views is a great foundation for when he does release his album

it's all cumulative, so whatever little bit helps

again, an intelligent person can make it work, not a random 'hey i copied this band so um click my link on their facebook####' 16-year-old

My internet froze as soon as I clicked on the link, but I do say, I share his sentiments on skinny jeans.

But yeah, basically this. If you build it, they will come.

On the strength of this thread, plus that remark, you're already well on the way to becoming a famous internet troll.....
