Using drum loops live. What should I know?

I've started a new band, and we want to use electronic drum loops, probably played from a laptop, instead of an actual drum set. At least for now. What should I know about doing this live? Is a laptop with FL Studio going to be good enough to create and play the loops?

Keep in mind, a computer can't tell when you **** up.

But the computer doesn't refuse to show up to practice, so that's what we're dealing with

Sure you can just program it off your laptop and then plug that into the DI at the venue you are playing at. But as timbit said the hard part is that you have to be exact on your timing. That computer doesn't know it's on stage and gets excited and plays the songs a little faster.

^^^ Yep timing would be the main one, probably best to practice to a click track foe a start, although it would be preferable to have all members with clicks going through in ear monitors live too.
