when everything's been conquered?

not everybody agrees with you though

have you not noticed the people muttering under their breath?
people taking pictures; hopefull witnesses of your demise
they see you as amusement; you better hide your tears

as your shadow comes closer and closer to you with age
will you notice the knife held up high
gaining ground as you sleep
waiting for you to lose focus
and then it will crash into your back
