Doesn't matter. They're just plain awful.

What effect are you looking for and how much do you have to spend?

Some are and some aren't, depends on which one. Also:

And some are not cheap so most be good. Anyway the reason for my question was the name itselfe, Digitech sounded digital.

Some are digital some are analogue. Most are digital I believe.

I think that the dirt boxes (bad monkey, screamin blues, hardwire tube overdrive, etc.) are analog, but some Digitech stuff can be bad.

Why does it matter if it's analog or digital? The only thing that matters is if you like how a pedal sounds or not...it doesn't make any difference whatsoever what's going on inside it if it does what you want out of the box.

because the vast majority of digital distortions/overdrives sound like utter arse.

Well I did quote him, and the question I asked was directed to him, and even more specifically it was about the thing that I quoted that he had just said.
I am not posting in this thread to gather information for myself, but thanks anyway

I heard the sound only on youtube. we all know that youtube can sound verry unrealistic. If the hot head would be digital, its more posible that its a bad overdrive.

The DL-8 is pretty cool and for the price I got it for ($105 new), the features and delay sounds is pretty awesome.
