Modifying a Peavey Ultra Plus Footswitch?

So as the title says, I want to modify my footswitch for my Ultra Plus head. My main issue with it is that the buttons are too close together and sometimes is makes me select the wrong channel (for the record, I only wear Chuck's for shoes). Is there anything I could do to make it easier to feel which button i'm stomping on through my shoes ? Thanks.

I think it is unlikely. I mean, I guess if you bought 3 different brands of footswitch, they might feel a bit different but that is about it. I did a very similar thing with my peavey footswitch though in terms of spacing the switches apart a bit. You can literally just remove all the electronics from the footswitch housing, buy a new box, drill a few holes, put the electronics in the new housing and that's it. Make sure you have everything labelled before you do though, so you don't get confused.

Spacing them out more would work for me, and Since the standard box they send is plastic and flimsy I could go for a metal box, where did you get yours?

You can get them quite easily from any decent electronics shop like Radio Shack or Maplin.

Here's what the previous owner of my Ultra Plus did (no longer have it). This is from my NAD thread on it:

Speaking of the foot switch, the guy did something pretty cool with it.

See how it goes CRUNCH - CLEAN - REVERB? Well that's a pain in the ass because the clean switch is so close to the others that it's hard to just select it with out hitting one of the other switches. So he rewired it and reversed the clean and the reverb switches so its much easier to hit the clean alone now, or even the clean and the reverb at the same time, but leave out the gain. Cool.
