Well in politics it's common for people to commit the occasional gaffe, but if you manage to offend as many people as Mitt Romney has within such a relatively short time span people going to talk about it, lol

I do recall Herge picturing black people as lazy in that Tintin in the Congo comic. He got flamed for that eventually tho. Old news..

If we can ban Tintin comics for being racist, we can ban the Bible for the same.

I mean it does make sense to remove the book from children's libraries...

I feel like censorship is strong in Sweden? Anyway, the library shouldn't be banning books for children (or anyone.) It's up to, and should always be up to the parent to determine what their children can or can not read.

Hergé wrote many Tintin books during the Nazi occupation of Belgium, so he wanted to appeal to a more racist Belgium (his country of origin). So yes.

and what exactly is incorrect here? Also, if it said that an average african has longer penis than average caucasian, would it be racist?

Wow they are censoring a comic that a Belgian artist made in the 1920s? Of course it was probably slightly racially biased but I mean what wasn't back then, especially when the editor of the paper publishing your work is a crazy priest who was a personal friend of Mussolini. Guys name was Norbert Wallez and he really did keep an autographed photo of Mussolini on his office wall. I used to read the shit out of Tintin books as a kid and I am not racist or anything, to be honest at that age I never put two and two together.

I've no idea how what you just said has any correlation to what I said (or even the topic at hand). This discussion is about the Tintin comics, not politics.

No, but you would be stereotyping.

Not all stereotypes are racist, but some can be. The 1920s stereotypes in the Tintin comics certainly were. That said, I don't think Herge was purposely trying to be racist.

The first one, Tintin goes to Russia, is rad as shit. My favorite part is when he finds complete pro diving equipment inside his prison cell, while discovering that the cell's brick walls are pretty easily broken and that there's the bottom of a river on the other side of that wall.
