It's probably not to your liking, but the Steinberger TranScale Baritone family are all 24 fret hardtails (trem optional):

Different body; different scale; integrated capo to go to standard tunings in seconds...

If you want something different, it would be really cool to get like a really old/classic looking Fender Tele or Strat with a HH PU setup and then put in the most high output metal PUs, like BKPs, in it. If course it would have none of the features you are looking for, but it would be different :P

^ Teles and Strats don't tend to have 24 frets which is kind of my main priority.

@danny - Cheers once again mate! That Demon model looks interesting, wish it came in a more exciting finish though.

In all honesty, I'm currently extremelly tempted by this:

... which is annoying cause I'm not much of a fan of Dean, and I don't listen to a lot of Megadeth either. But it's a cool looking axe - I really like the finish.

I love my Dean Time Capsule Cadillac. It has held it's own against every guitar I've played since I bought it, and remains one of my primary guitars to this day. Long story short- don't knock Deans just because people say things on the Internet.

What surprised me is that that guitar has 24 frets and is 25.5" scale- most of their guitars seem to be 24.75" scale and 22 frets. Even my Caddy.

So, back to YOU!

It would seem as if you're looking for a more metal visual aesthetic than the guitars you own currently, right? At this point, I'd normally suggest Dean Z's followup company, DBZ...but the only 24 fret guitars they offer are- you guessed it- equipped with Floyds.

I'm not a fan of Dean because of the Dean's I have played in the past. But to be fair they were likely all their cheap (made in China or similar) models. I believe that VMNT is made in Korea so it should be a solid guitar. A shop vaguely near me has a VMNT I think so I will go check it out if I get a chance.

Yeah...I avoid the sub-$500 Deans, too. The cheapest one I own is a Special Select EVO. The only issue I have with it is I have gotten many better guitars since I bought it, and its stock HBs no longer cut it. I'm currently trying to figure out what I want to replace them with.

Here's something else a bit different...and local to you!

http://www.bme.com.au/models.htm

All 24 fret hardtails...but not cheap and there is a slight waiting list.

Baha, thanks mate. Kinda out of my price range for this though.

I actually don't really have anymore money at the moment. Have a bunch of gear up for sale that's really going to decide whether I get any new guitars or not.

One of my Caparisons is all black (finish, hardware, ebony board) and it's got a floyd trem but no locking nut/tuners. So one of my other thoughts is that I block off the bridge with some blocks of wood since I can't really use it as a trem anyway, and get it refinished into something more interesting. Would be expensive to refinish (to get it done professionally) but still cheaper than buying a new axe. Hmmmm.....

You might want to look at the Malden Subhuman: http://maldenguitars.com/subhuman.htm

Here's the thing- on THAT page, it says 22 frets and $1200. The price is probably not accurate- MSRPs are usually inflated a tad.

But the thing is, in Malden's direct sale store, there is this one sitting around for sale, for just $729.

http://maldenguitars.com/storeSubhuman.htm

Note, it says 24 frets. One must be a typo, but I lack the patience to ascertain which one. (Yes, I AM a lazy bastard! )

I'd say its worth a look.

Save up about €3300 and you could be the first on your block to own one of these!

http://www.nicole-instruments.com/p...smaster-nicole/

24 fret hardtail, 2HB, slate black corian body...and it glows in the dark! Get them to do one with red LEDs- maybe even a pentagram- and it will be perfect for metal...

Their Evolution is another 24 fret hardtail, and does the same trick for about €1000 less, with a green glow, but they wrote their name on it. (Merde.)

Check Out Raven West Guitars: http://www.ravenwestguitar.com/elguit.html

Their prices seem reasonable, and they ship worldwide.

The Dean VMNT is not really mid range, but you can get it at a Mid range price (if you're in the UK) by buying it online from an American dealer.

Thanks Danny, but they both all seem to have trems!

Anyways, work has dried up for me over the last few weeks so I can't really afford to buy anything right now.

If you want the Carvin... look into going through Price USA http://www.priceusa.com.au/

They might be able to import it for you for less than buying direct. It's a large item though which could make things difficult but I've used it for my laptop which cost $1300 as opposed to $2800 from HP Australia.
