Do bareknuckle pickups show up a bad guitar?

I have a cheap guitar that plays beautifully but sounds pretty bad. Would bareknuckle pickups make it sound better or would it just show up the poor wood of the guitar? And my amp is a jim root terror.

Pickups and amps are more important than wood IMO however I'm no expert and I'll probably get shot down in flames lol.
It's like the argument about drum shells, some "drum snobs" say maple sounds better than birch etc but most drummers agree, if you had kits of various woods side by side tuned the same you'd be very hard pushed to pick one from the other.

Besides, there's nowt wrong with pimping up a naff guitar.

Nice amp btw

If you put good pickups in it and it already plays well, then it won't be a bad guitar any more.

What do you mean it sounds bad? What exactly do you not like about it?

Well, you said it plays beautifully.
To me, that would mean upgrading is at least worth a shot.

PS. While Bareknuckle pickups are awesome, there are plenty of other brands. I'm contractually obliged to ask why you specifically asked about Bareknuckles, since there might be pickups from other brands that might be more suited to the situation.

And above else, much cheaper. Bareknuckles aren't cheap.

Well I want a brutal metal tone paired with a vintage sounding neck. I don't want actives and I don't want a JB in the bridge. If you can offer a cheaper alternative to an aftermath bridge that'd be great! I'm thinking of a tonerider PAF in the neck

I just don't like them. What metal I'm thinking of is thrash, nu metal, death metal, metalcore and djent.

Just buy a Crunch Lab and Liquifire and be done with it.

Bkp are so over rated its stupid. I feel for the hype. Bought a set. Played them and loads other BKPs. Came to the conclusion I should have made before I dropped the money on them.

They are good. Not that great.

All use active pickups and mainly EMGs

If you really don't want actives. Look at Dimarzio Deactivators.

+311, but definitely a different flavor. The best route is to buy them Used, better Bang for the $$$ and worth it.

If you like the character of passives personally, I recommend Duncan SH-6 Distortion, SH-5 Custom, or DiMarzio Super Distortions.

As for the neck pickup, look at Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 or SH-2 Jazz.

Or get the JP set as Tom said. You can't really go wrong with that.

This has also been my experience with BKP. They are good pickups, no doubt about it. But for $350 a set? I mean, that's a lot of ****ing money for a pickup set.

Though I will say that I do want to give the Warpigs a go. If any ever pop up used.

OP, just try out some Blackouts. I'm usually not a fan of Blackouts (quite the opposite in fact), but for that slightly old school metal tone, Blackouts fill the bill.

Warpigs rarely show up Used, mostly PKs, MMs, NBs, and AMs. Rebel Yells are uncommon here, too.

For real. The only ones on ebay are Painkillers and Nailbombs.

There does appear to be a single Warpig up right now, but it's a color I would never use.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Bare-Kn...=item232325175b

Also not sure that's a good price or not. It's not used so

A bit much. When they're less than $100 (negotiated) shipped from RT, TGP, HC, MLP, or SS.org, I just ask for PayPal IDs.

Wow, I thought everyone loved bkp. My favourite metal tone is war is the answer by five finger death punch. That's the metal tone I want.
