I used to repair Wyse terminals.
A few times, I had the power connection disconnected.
There is still a shitload of juice inside the CRT though.
Leaned over it.
Zapped me right on the nipples.
Those are 20kV - 50kV.

Ah yes, the warm kiss of a flyback transformer.

I've had a few of those as well.

This is rather unfortunate and sounds similar to what happened to me a few years ago. I took the telephone apart (don't ask me why). There was a part inside that was all metal and I touched it and got a zapped pretty good.

Later, I got one hell of a headache. It went away, but the moral of the story is "do not screw around with electricity."

If your other arm was touching metal you could've actually had a significantly greater risk of dying.

I did something like that once, I was young and I the phone rang in the workshop, I was talking to my dad for a bit while I had an exacto in my other hand. I was just sort of poking the wooden studs and fidgeting while we were talking. Then just as he hung up I realized I was then cutting through an electricity feed to the lights. And just as I realized it I got the jolt of a life time and my arm was numb for about 15 minutes.

My brother and I have been shocked several times by one of the outlets in our room, which we don't use anymore. The last time I tried plugging something into it I saw a blue bolt of energy shoot up my arm to my shoulder but I didn't get shocked.

I once shoved two pieces of copper wire into an outlet when I was about 12. If the main breaker hadn't immediately tripped, I would have died for sure. I am now left with a partially numb leg (where the wire came into contact with my body).

What are you talking about? The thread is called "I almost died." Right? I notice a lot of people sharing stories about how they almost died by touching an electrical outlet or something like that. So I've decided to share one of my stories about a similar situation that I experienced previously. Is there a problem with this???

Electricity is no joke. I worked on an apartment and this guy on the ladder touched an open circuit and flew off his ladder into a wall. That shit is crazy. He boosted off of the ladder into the wall and hit the ground. That's movie shit right there lol.

So if you said you got hurt, I understand your plight.

An electric shock of ANY magnitude can make the heart fibrillate, which can lead to problems in the future You should get checked out after any shock.
