Mayones for my 513????

Hey guys I have a friend who just got a Mayones Regius 7. string through with and ash top and dimarzio super distorition/liquifier. And He...... doesnt like it.

I played around with it for a few days and I love the thing.
He has his eye on my prs 513 seafoam green with dove inlays. I never play it honestly ive had for 4 years and it got used for cleans on a recording one time.

The only thing that has me keeping it is its value and thats not exactly going to go down anytime soon I know.

Would the Mayones be worth the value, I would actually use the regius vs letting it sit. witch subjects it to wear and tear.

any opinions?

Guitars aren't ment to be collected and then sold. I can see how that would help you out in a situation, but provided everything's ok (since you're buying Mayones/PRS guitars), there's no use.

Buy the Mayones bro.

I wouldn't bother. Even if you don't use t the Mayones isn't worth the trade and its resale will just bomb when the whole ZOMG!!!itsLIKEper1phery!!!11 phase passes.

that's sorta what i was thinking. I have no idea what the quality of mayones guitars is like, since i haven't tried them (i'm guessing they're pretty sweet, though), but from a black-and-white resale value point of view, I'm guessing a PRS will hold its value much better than a mayones. Heck, sell your PRS for proper market value and then buy your friend's mayones if that's what you want to do.

Seafoam green was a hella ltd run color though.. prs collectors would enjoy :P.
The build quality of the mayones is fantastic.. on par with my PRS no doubt.

The reguis 7 will have easy market in pretty much anyone who plays technical metal.
just very very hard to find any used to go on a resale standpoint... Although the way that axe plays... I dont think id ever sell if i got my hands on it :/ the 513 is nice to know i have in case Sh** hits the fan ya know what I mean?

Oh and Matrix! i messaged ya about that there soloist ya have for sale!

I kinda disagree with you here Tom. Mayones have been pretty popular even before Periphery I came out, they make some pretty quality instruments. They've retained their pricing thus far, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to ride out a "Periphery phase" .

Personally, I hate seafoam green on 90% of everything . If they've got similar build quality, you'll use the other instrument more, and you like it more, then I don't see why you wouldn't trade .

And what's the thing with resale value? Do you want to keep the guitar or not lol?

still don't have a value on the mayones.

a pre-factory 1993 seafoam green prs EG3 just sold on the bay for $721.00.

more collectable than a 513.

i'm not saying that's what the 513 is worth, just that it's not going to bring stupid money any time soon.

This is nearly the identical Guitar. except the Dimarzios (witch sound great but to be honest would get swapped for BKP warpigs or aftermaths
Called my buddy confirmed I was wrong its not an ash top its maple like the axe in this ad.

the bridge is suprisingly very comfy and great for djenty palm mutes. I was so used to the tonepro style I have on my schecters and esps

Mayones is hawt. Prices on the 513 seem to be all over the place - I'd say they're worth about equal, but I honestly don't know. The Mayones would probably sell faster, if you didn't end up liking it. People on SS/RT eat that shit up

True even though i do dissagree with tom about the mayones being a passing phase the djent die hards and tech metal guys will probably sell their wives to buy it from me if i dont dig it after all.. Im gonna have him let me borrow it again and get a bit of time with it on my nitrox. played through my knucklehead last time and it sounded amazing but i get all my stage high gain from the nitrox so thats where the test is.
Ill let everyone know.. maybe put the new rec. gear to use and show everyone the tone!

Yeah, no kidding. Mayones has seen it's fair share of markets over the past few years, and I don't really see that ending.

TS, go for it, I say.

I know Mayones have been around for a fair amount of time. THat doesn't mean they have and always will command the hype surrounding them now. It's also worth mentioning that they were also well known for sloppy fret work. Poorly made necks, all those laminate layers can cause havoc if not done properly and just a general lack of finese which although it does seem they sorted thief QC issues out, you only need to look at how RAN is plagued with legends of bad builds wether true or false and one bad batch could ruin the future rep of Mayones. Thats the risk with brands like that.

Hell I almost bought a Blackmachine B2 for 1800 new 6 years ago because barely any key have heard of them and this who had only knew because they were fans of Sikth. Look at what the growth of techy bands and the web has done for them and they play like a nice Ibanez and the rest is hype.

TS if you know you will never ever want to sell the Mayones, go for it. As a playing guitar that you love it sounds a safe bet. If financing the thing against a trade value of your PRS is an issue, you could lose out on a few hundred either way, if that seems worth it to you, don't let any anybody stop you. Just realise if you think in 10 years time it will still have the same residual value as an older Mint Limited Prs MAY demand, you may be disappointed.

The other thing that also kills stuff like a rare custom 7 from a sma builder is that forums represent about 0.000001% of guitar players and the average player won't know about or give a shit that a guitar was made by one guy over a year with 200 year old ebony. It's easy to get caught up in what's flavour of the month on forums, but unless those markets are interested its hardto shift niche guitars on a more 'public' based opinion.
