Soda Tax

On the last Parks and Recreation, Leslie proposes a tax on Soda. If you see the picture above, the sizes are ridiculously unhealthy. The size small is 64 ounces, and Regular is unfathomable.

Leslie wanted to do the tax because the drinks are filled with sugar and very unhealthy. Ron didn't want to do it because of libertarian consumer freedom reasons.

Anyways satire aside, I went to Jack In The Box the other day, and they had a deal going on where all Large sodas were $1.00. Since it was a special and it would have been more expensive to get a small ($1.79) I got a large. The size was ridiculous, and it was an amount nobody should ever drink in one sitting. I think I heard they banned that in New York.

Anyways, if you had a chance to vote, would you vote in favor of the bill, or against it?

Woah, literally just finished this 2 minutes ago. Against it, I was really disappointed Leslie is that kind of politician.

Or we could just sue whoever sells that big of containers. And make a documentary out of it 'Supersize Me' style.

Besides, its natural selection. I don't understand why people buy big containers. Just refill that bitch.

I think larges here are smaller than the small in that picture. Honestly, I don't drink much fountain pop.

I remember seeing the preview for that episode
"It's 'child size' because it's the size of a child" (or something like that)

OT: The larges at most FF restaurants are unfathomable. Unless you're going on a road trip you don't need 32+oz of soda. As far as taxing soda goes, I could care less.

EDIT: Some named "JackintehBox" has viewed my profile recently. They're watching us on UG.

Against it. But also obesity-related medical care cost should not be footed by taxpayer money.

No, Parks and Rec was using hyperbole. But a large is pretty big, though. Small is usually 20 oz., and a Large would be like that 64 oz. or even 72 oz.

I agree with Ron (though not for his reasons). I've always been against the government being paternalistic. If I want to drink sugary soda all day, who the hell is a government body to tell me I can't?

Speaking of...grabbing a Dr. Pepper, bitches!

They tax smokers, why not tax fat people as well? Infact, let's start taxing everyone who is different. Just look at all the problems our differences create.

Personally, I think we should skip fat people and go straight to bronies. Wait, there isn't a difference I guess.

This is the kind of thing that I would actually support. There are sandwiches at the convenience store here that have 119% of the daily recommended sodium intake. I think that should either be taxed, or illegal.

Generally I have an opinion on taxes, but when it comes to specific excise taxes like this I have no idea what I should think.
