hard rock distortion

My Current distortion pedal is all metal all the way and i cant get a nice classic rock distortion with it so i was wondering what suggestions you guys had for a pedal that can give me a nice slash or AC/DC distortion

Visual Sound J&H. If you actually listen to Angus Young's tone though, there isnt that much gain on it, its just turned up REALLY loud.

This. Angus used amps that were made before Distortion was really a desirable sound. They didn't have Gain knobs. If you wanted to get a crunchy, distorted tone, you had to crank it up to 10 and saturate the Power Tubes and get them to distort, plus they usually used Celestion Greenback speakers, which have a desirable distortion character. So, basically, the two type of distortion you'll be producing (Solid State and/or Preamp) aren't even in the same ballpark. That's not to say you can't dial in a similar sound, but to truly get that tone, you have to crank the shit out of a tube amp.
