Neither. Get a nice digital modeller, maybe a Vypyr Tube or something.

Absolutely not. Most of the tube amps I've had sound pretty thin and lifeless at lower volumes, but modelling tends to sound great all the way down to zero.

So a 60watt vypyr tube would be better then a 6505+ even for recording at home? |

For gigging, yeah. For recording and bedroom use, Vypyr wins.

As a former 6534 owner they sound good at low volumes. I actually preferred my 6534 at lower volumes before it opened up with volmue. The guitarist of my old band hadthe 6505+ 112 and he hadthe same opinion about it too. The only down side is that its heavy as hell. We both are axe fx ii owners now, but thats besides the point
![]() In short, yes i personally say go for the 6505+ 112 even if its only for bedroom use

I say 6505+ 112. I had one and LOVED it for practicing.

6050+. I have one now and it sounds great both at low volumes and at practice/gigs. You have to mess with the EQ a little bit depending on the volume, but it really is a fantastic amp for the music you would like to play.

+1 to everything kyle62 is saying.
I've owned a 5150, and I own a Vypyr Tube now. The 5150/6505 is absolutely NOT a good bedroom amp. It sounds like crap at whisper volumes. On the contrary. the Vypyr Tube sounds amazing completely regardless of volume. And as an owner of both amps in question, I'll also say that the Vypyr does better 6505 tones at low volumes than the 6505. The 6505 is unmatchable when it's pushing air, but at talking/bedroom volumes, the Vypyr does a compressed, recorded 6505 tone way better.

I own both and both sound lifeless and thin at low volumes meaning like .5. As soon as you get 1-2 volume which starts to get really, really loud they open up and will give those tones. In my experience my peavey is darker and a different mid voicing to give you more of that "chunk". Whereas the bugera is the same brootalness but more scooped, more clarity and really trebly at low volumes.
With that said both are awesome, but need to be loud to sound good. I personally like my bugera more. I like the tone and versatility (better clean channel as well) more than the peavey, but to each their own.

Vypyr. Plus, it has headphone slot so (I've actually done this a few times) if you wake up in the middle of the night when every one's sleeping with a riff idea in your head, you can practice silently :3

Compare the volume you play at to 'TV volume.' That's usually a pretty good baseline for comparison for volume, as most people watch TV at a similar volume.
