Unhappy I need an advice on a particular physical problem ...

I have been playing guitar for like 3 years and I am right handed. but like a year ago I cut my anular finger of the left hand, so I cant use it at all. I have been thinking that I could start playing with the left hand so "the lack" of my finger is not a problem because I play with a pick mostly, but, how hard it would be to me start playing with the left hand instead the right? I know it would be like start all over again but it would be harder than that, since I am right handed naturally?... I wish I could explain it better, english is not my mother language ^_^
Thank you

Not too hard. It'll be weird but you will know how to play so you will be able to teach yourself and spot mistakes. So don't worry about it.

I'm sure it's possible. Not easy, but possible. Maybe try finding a left handed guitar at a local guitar store to try it out. See how you will adjust.

Adapt and overcome my friend. Use the shit out of your pinky. I'm one of the rare guys that uses his pinky for power chords, pentatonic licks, etc. Create your own style with what life has given you. Don't start over, if you've played for three years right handed, you could expect 3 more to get where you are now lefty. This reminds me of the guy that plays guitar with his feet. His FEET! Hell bud, turn it up and go with it...

I think it's rarer to find someone who plays three fingered power chords without there pinky.

A friend of mine had a guitar instructor who couldn't move the fingers in his strumming hand very well, due to a car accident when he was younger. He had a guitar pick implanted into a golf ball somehow so he could hold it, and managed to play very well that way.

It's a bit different from your situation, but what you can take from it is this: You'll just need to adapt. If you really want to play, you'll do whatever it takes.

I think what he means is using his pinky to play both the 5th and the 8th of the chord.
I do the same.

It will be difficult, but far from impossible. Some leftys play guitar right handed.

Um wait, is "anular" a common term? I'm surprised I'm the first person to suggest that it's the finger TS uses to stick up his own butt.

Everyone uses their little finger for power-chords.

Google says it's the ring finger. I'm willing to give OP a break since he said English wasn't his first language.

You could learn it, or choose to play Django-style.

Django Reinhardt was a beast. He inspired Tony Iommi to keep playing after the accident where he lost the tips of his two fingers. He's worth looking up. It's just another thing to consider.

Tony iommi uses prosthetic finger tips/light strings e.g 9s 10s down tuned to D and C. Why not try that?

The only thing that will stop you learning the guitar lefty is that fact that you have already learnt it right-handed. You don't necessarily have to be left handed to learn it that way, and I have known guitarists who got lefty guitars because they were cheap and learnt it without a problem.

My brother broke his Ring finger and it never healed up so he can't bend it at all. I know it's not the same but he's managed to compensate just fine, only problem is some shapes but you can usually adapt to make it work
