Do you think the Euro will break apart?
I'm in Spain just now and they are discussing the possibility of getting a bail out. What is your opinion?
Greece is a shambles, Ireland is bad, Portugal has rising unemployment, Spain has 25% unemployment which is still rising. Meanwhile, all of these countries are witnessing ever increasing taxes and riots. Are bailouts the way out of this crisis? Or are things going to blow up?

Don't know much about EU, but from my knowledge gathered from my Intro to Economics class Confederacies usually seem to end pretty badly.

Sittin' in Germany, the only thing I'm worried about is Merkel bailing the rest of Europe out instead of saying "Fuck it, you're on your own" and not let this country get dragged down with the rest.
If that happens, I'm moving to Scandinavia. Preferrably Sweden, though if shit really hits the fan Norway. Or Switzerland.

Here in Denmark we're discussing the problems in Greece and Spain a lot. Ireland's financial status is getting out of hand, so yeah, we're preparing for a split in EU. Whether I want it or not, I don't really know.

I don't want to find Romney attractive but I'm just sitting there and he comes on the screen and I'm like "...yeah." and it all just kinda snowballs from there.
I find it hard to look in the mirror. |

I don't expect that to happen, but in this kind of political climate, who knows?

I'm confident that the crisis will eventually start to turn back around and the EU will survive. There will need to be some changes though, and I haven't figured out how Greece won't be ****ed for years.

Bailouts have never been the way to rise out of an economic crisis. Not by themselves.
Economic reform at the smallest levels won't cut it either. The whole spectrum of the economy, from what type of economy your country has to what kinds of restrictions your country has put on speculants, from bartering rules to banking rules, it all needs to be looked at in a scientifical-statistical way, without ideology influencing the search for the problems and solving them. For instance, neo-liberalism has shown itself to be just as incompetent as the neo-classicalism that reigned during the early half of the 20th century. True, our crisis is not as bad, but we're already outpacing the Great Depression when it comes to longevity. In the end, I think the biggest problem is that people lack the money to buy all the things our modern economy needs to get sold in order for it to function. Prices have risen, paychecks haven't. Social housing is no longer affordable by the average factory worker, he needs subsidising for that to happen now. And on top of that, everyone is coerced into buying expensive items like cars, fashion or other luxuries, that nobody knows what they want anymore and keep their money in their pocket until they make their mind up. That makes the prices rise even further when done en masse. And that's just 16 million people in Europe's commercial main port. I'm not informed of the situation in Germany, France, the UK or any other country that matters, but I can imagine similar issues that just won't get resolved by the bourgeois politicians. Concluding: the worst is yet to come if it keeps going this way. Syria is more of a problem though. World wars and all that. |

The Union will fracture, the UK will leave atleast. The currency will survive but Greece and Spain at the least will end up leaving it. Was a stupid idea in the first place

UK will leave at some point. But they don't contribute much. They're trying as much as they can to participate as little as possible, and let Germany take the big load alone. Sorry if I'm too straight forward but this is how I feel UK is reacting to EU's crisis.

The only country to benefit from the Euro is Germany... and maybe france, but thats it, it would be great if the EU split.

Yeah, I won't exactly say that Germany is benefiting at all. They're trying to keep things together while other countries don't do shit or just don't care.
