It's not going to sound much like Yngwie, because single coils and humbuckers are much different in nature. But it will definitely sound unique. How loud can you play? Are you a bedroom player or gigging?

i would want to play that amp first, it does have:

-a boost with adjustable gain
-100 watt and 50 watt mode
-an attenuator

but it is built on a 1959 platform, i am used to having to crank the hell outta my JTM45 to get 'gain' tones outta it so i'd be interested to see what this amp could do at lower volumes.

i wonder why they didn't just put a master volume on it, attenuators suck some serious tone.

I'm trying not to sound like him but he is one of my inspirations. Thanks for saying it'll sound unique. That's what I'm going for.

I practice in my bedroom at pretty loud volumes it's no issue where I live, but I usually go to my friend's house to practice with him, there we crank up the volume as high as we need to. When I practice I play at low volumes to catch mistakes.

The JVM will cover the bands you like very well and it has a very good master volume so sounds good at lower volumes too.

Do you have any plans to play in a band?

If not, go for the JVM1 when it is released as it will sound better at low volume than the JVM.

I offer this advice as someone who owns the JVM205 and the DSL 1 watt. The DSL Is friendlier on the ears because I can turn it up past half way without hearing damage

I'm holding off on the JVM until they release the Joe Satriani edition. I want to see how that holds up to the Mark V, and Uberschall before buying my next head in the future. The YJM is the other amp that caught my attention, it just sounds great.

I've been in a band before, but it disbanded, so I'm starting my own.

You are in L.A. ?

Hold please.

But yeah, with that budget you should be able find quite a few amps that are better than the JVM, YJM and Satch crap. Preliminary reports I've heard on these sig ams is that they are just not that good. I only have experience with the JVMs. There should be boat loads of really really good amps in your area. My suggestion is to get out there and play as many as you can. There is no substitute for experience. I do remember being in your shoes once and it was very hard to be patient.

Hold please, while I take a peak at your craigslist.

Ok. Well. Not all of those are perfect for what you play (ie the Triple Rec) and some you were probably not expecting (ie the Line 6 DT50) and some may appear to be vintage combos (ie the JMP 50) and some you may have never heard of before (ie the Koch) - but my point is still the same.

There are some nice amps out there to be honest.....the more money you have to spend the leasy likely buying new makes sense. All of these amp are quality amps. I cannot recommend a JVM seeing all of these. And don't discount the combos just because they are not manly looking halfstacks. Some of these combos will kick most half stacks strait in the ass.

I have not played all of these amp models but most of them I have - or at least have a good reference point. I'd go for the EVH 5150 III personally but not at that price. Talk them down. Most of these are starting point prices anyway so they all need to be talked down.

Outside of this a 'Marshally' based EL34 50 or 100 watt amp would be the type of thing I'd look for what you play which is I think predominantly Thrash right?

Good luck,

My suggestion for what you want as far as tone goes would be the EVH 5150III, Mesa Mark V, or a Marshall JCM800.
