Advice on buying abroad

So I'm going to Canada soon, and I had a thought: if, on the off chance, I find a guitar out there that I really like, and I decide to buy it, would I have to go through anything because of it at the airport this side (UK-side)?

Well you'd have to check it (they wont let you bring it in the cabin) and obviously if you declare it, you'll have to pay the taxes. Be sure to buy a molded hard case so the guitar isn't moving around in the case too.

Is there any reason why you want to buy it in Canada? Is the guitar not available near you?

I've ordered guitars from America in the past, it used to be loads cheaper until the laws changed and the increased import taxes now mean you don't save anything.

I think its slightly different if you're over there though, I've heard if you just take the guitar as extra baggage you can avoid most of the charges.

Always make sure she gets checked. Wear a condom. Let a friend know that you're there.

... Oh, buying ABROAD! I thought you said "a broad." make sure the dealer is legit and stuff.

Thanks for the advice guys. It's not that I intend to buy a guitar over there, but if I do find one I really, really like, I may consider buying it. I'll make sure to check with the airline before I do anything.

Once again, thank you!

Make sure you get a nice case with it because I've had a few punctured ones.
