Tell me. What exactly is Thanksgiving for? How did it start in Canada?

Most of these holidays started as religious "Holy Days". The very word "holiday" is derived from the words "Holy Day". So, don't act so high and mighty, Canadians!

Exactly the same way as it did in the United States, seeing as it predates either nation.

My point exactly! And the concept started as something religious. Thanksgiving is now mostly secular, but it started as a religious "Holy Day".

Some politician in the 50s said that we should set aside a day to thank god for the bountiful harvest or some shit. Real story: we didn't have a holiday in October yet and wanted one.

My mug is the coolest, and unlike that tardish shaped mug you can actually drink from it.

glass mugs are best, especially when you have a nice liquid to look at (as well as not liking the taste, coffee isn't that pretty to me):

In some parts of canada, they eat beaver as an appetizer.

The beavers are actually more of a dessert and it's the tail we eat. The fur is made into pelts and later clothing.

Fasten your seatbelt and turn the lights down low, behold:

Bacon, cheese, sweet chilli sauce, and Presidential Pork Pie (Don't ask me why).

Feel free to post pictures of your own lunch, and you can follow them with semi-relevant onomatopoeia if you wish.

That's kind of a lame sandwich man.

True, it can be traced back to English traditions that began around the time of the Protestant Reformation back in the 16th century.

Just to get back to the thread, I've just had a sausage, bacon, cheese, mushroom and ketchup sandwich made on two white slices of Warburtons 'toastie' bread. It had absolutely no redeeming factors health-wise, but f*ck it, you only life once.
