The Micro Terror is basically a tube overdrive preamp and a 20W solid state power stage. It's... actually pretty good. Had a go on one, genuinely surprised. Not suited to me due to the lack of an effects loop and not sure about the versatility but a good small amp.

off topic comment, effects loop? whats that? I just run my pedals into the input. Is the effects loop more for rack effects or whatever?

an effects loops is for you to run effects after your amp's distortion. stuff like reverb and chorus go good in effects loops.

Any ideas?

Another Edit. Is the Orange Micro Terror anygood? I here its only like 2 watts.

that opens you up to whole new range of amps. i think the vox would be able to do the music you want pretty good.

we ask for your location so we can look for used gear near you that would fit your needs and budget.

we're very good at that.

i checked http://myparentsbasement.craigslist.org/ and didn't find much of interest.

sorry, I didn't know what you meant. I wasn't sure if you meant how big of an amp can you get or where I am. I am in Lincoln NE.

if you are gigging small gigs, and they have a drummer, you will need more than a micro amp.

Just get a used Valveking head and pretty much any used half-decent cab.

Relatively inexpensive, enough to get you going, plenty loud enough and room to grow your rig when you want to.

http://omaha.craigslist.org/msd/3254128928.html would have to snag a cab to go with it.

http://omaha.craigslist.org/msg/3328875732.html he'd sell the 112 combo for $500. probably $450 if you asked nice. should do what you want. (not technically all tube, but they don't sound like shit either).

http://omaha.craigslist.org/msg/3294561353.html vypyr 60 combo $250

Yeah we do have a drummer, but he doesn't rock out a whole bunch, especially since he has a broken arm right now. the drummer shouldn't be much of an issue.

That Epiphone So Cal Greg posted would be sweet. That thing is a monster. Great tone too.

The Vypyr 60 wouldn't be too bad either (I own one) but for what you play I'd focus on an all tube head that excels at the low gain/mid gain kinda thing.

Never played the HT Clubs.

If your gigs are mic'ed up I could see a Night Train amp or a Dual Terror working fine.

Valveking is good amp for the job too - I used to own one. Needs a new speaker though.

Why do you need a head and cabinet? I think with your budget just go for a Peavey Vypyr combo.

Great point.

A tube amp will sound much louder than your old amp. Combos will get you more bang for the buck on a budget. That So Cal is still sexy though - even though it may not look it.
