Also, this is my all-time favorite track from Sonic games. Sonic Adventure has IMO one of the best video game soundtracks, and it rivals some of Zelda's best moments. This was from 1999, and the production quality sounds better than pretty much all Zelda games before Skyward Sword.

Also, this track is just perfect:

Haha yeah it's hard but it's so fun that you can play it for hours and not care. I never beat the second level, never even came close

I agree that Sonic Adventure has one of the best game soundtracks. I never played but I've heard a lot on the internet.

I forgot about Spinball. That one actually was hard.

I totally loved whichever one when I was little, but when I couldn't clear a stage it got me pretty peeved of.

Speaking of which, isn't he making some kind of appearance on that one upcoming movie Wreck-It Raplh? Should be interesting.

The first 3, the one for sega cd and the first one for dreamcast. After that sonic died in a horrible speed boat crash.

Sonic sucked for a LOOOOONG time now. It only just started to get decent again. That being said, I played the shit out of 1, 2, and Spinball on my Genesis as a child. Dat Casino Night Zone theme.

Also, two cousins did a Let's Play series of the twenty years of Sonic games, culminating with Sonic Generations. I think they're pretty funny so here's a link to the playlist .

On a technical level, Sega got pretty sloppy with these games. Adventure 2, Heroes, and Unleashed all had some irritating visual glitches. It's a wonder Dreamcast couldn't save the company as a console maker. I had two Dreamcast's and both had shitty lasers that caused a screen skipping effect

In Sonic 3, there was a room in the Carnival Level I only escaped once. It was in the 2nd act. I feel like this room was difficult enough that you guys might remember which one it was and how to get out?

Sonic was probably the first game I really got into. I played NES when I was very, VERY young but I never understood what was happening.

My grandpa used to have a Sega Genesis with Sonic 1, and it was like my favorite game ever. Then when he moved he got Sonic CD for his computer for me.. it was all over. I was sucked in. The music was A+ (yes, I mean the USA soundtrack), the graphics were beautiful, the time-travel mechanic was cool and added an extra layer of depth, the game was challenging but very beatable, and it just felt great to play. Still my favorite Sonic game.

I took a big break from Sonic, but my friends starting getting Gamecubes and as a result SA2:B. Once again, addicted. Played it to DEATH. I went back as a result and started playing the old ones over again, and I loved them.

I'm not so much into Sonic anymore, but I did enjoy Generations a lot and I still fire up SA2:B every now and then. It's unfortunate he had such a shitty streak of games, but it looks like the future of Sonic is getting brighter.

How has no one mentioned the chao yet? The chao system in SA2 was both time consuming and creative. I spent countless hours raising those little blue bastards into badass karate masters/adorable racing champions.

Yup, the infamous barrel room. So many kids got trapped there, including myself (I got out by pure luck once or twice). There's a spinning barrel that you stand on and you need to try to push it down under a ledge so you can jump down and continue.

So your first instinct is to jump on it and keep trying to hit it at the right point. Yeah, it can be done, but it's ******edly hard to do it that way. I felt really stupid when I found this out, but you're just supposed to alternate up and down on the control panel and it moves the barrel. God dammit Sega, that was the most confusing thing ever. It's not like up and down do much in the game before that moment, why would they help me now?

Edit: This.

Chao was so ******ed and so amazing at the same time. I don't think there was ever a better side quest in the history of gaming.

It's been a while, but I had at least one or two Chaos Chao (immortal, highest evolution possible) with maxed out stats and ranks. I put a shitload of time into that. Honestly, I might've given Shadow the Hedgehog a pass had it retained the Chao Garden. Actually, I've still got the data. It's just been a while since I've played SA2:B or SADX.

Like, I knew intellectually that it was nothing more than a glorified Tamagotchi. But it was so damnably entertaining that I didn't care.
